What's new

Why was Bose diminished on Republic Day?

How on Earth would the death of a Governor General mean an end of British rule?
Also how could Bose have killed him with an umbrella? This is not a Bruce Lee movie. o_O

You see if Netaji dared to put umbrella around the neck of Governor General .. he could have gone bit further ...

and Once Governor General had been killed ....all the british who were anyway scared off Netaji would have had fled India and India would have got Independence :p:

.
Well we cannot forget the contribution to our nation by Netaji....... But I always wonder did we (as a nation) give him the credit he deserves????

.
I doubt you consider him a great soul. Your previous post is witness to that(yes, the taunt was good :D ). I don't mean to say that you are not entitled to your opinion. Just making my point, is all. :)

You should assert the accusations with proof !

Prove how I do not regard the Netaji as great soul .

Please what ?

Not really humorous.

No. We have forgotten him. We have failed. It is our collective failure. We try to pour all the blame on Congress and other xyz. But the lion's share of the blame is on us. Then of course, there was the political mainstream.

.
Netaji resigned a lucrative job to join freedom struggle while few others came up with their bloated egos and divided the nation.....Nehru included.

I read this about Netaji on another site....
"Netaji refused to obey the prohibition to carry his umbrella while meeting the Governor General at his office in Kolkata after being successful in Indian Civil Services (ICS) examination. It was then a traditional dignity to carry the umbrella for every Bengali gentleman. When the Governor General objected to this, asking him to explain his behavior, he dared to put the umbrella around the neck of British Governor General and warn him to mind his behavior."....

Now that takes a lot of courage!!

If Subhash Chandra Bose was alive when India got Independence then things might have been a lot diferent today....or so I think.

Most fantastic story I have ever heard !!!

.
If Bose would have been there just after Independence, may be the South Asian future would be a hell a lot different.

The part where it is stated that Netaji put umbrella round the neck of Governor General and asked him to mind his own business ...I find that extremely humorous ... Don't you find it funny ???

Unsung hero of Indian freedom movement...
Its upto us now to uphold the values they fought for irrespective of which gov or person lead the nation .....

well you have no sense of humour !!!

People are so blind ...that they can't rationally think ...

and then they come up with such stories meant to exalt their Lordships ....

This tendency to mix lie to garnish the characters of beloved leaders is dangerous .

What I find funny is that how people quote such things without thinking for a moment !

There were several instances like this - that includes Gandhi.

You forget two things -
i. All British Governor Generals were not like Reinhard Heidrich(guy was German Protector of Bohmen und Mahren). Some were decent upright God fearing men who did not mind being subjected to a light joke by a kid who passed the Civil Services exam.
ii. Bose's daredevilry is not fiction.

Indeed that is what I object - blind worship !!! whether it is about Gandhiji or Netaji or anyone else .

Based on the story above - I can see how much of Netaji's daredevilry is fictional .

I have no doubt to say that it takes more than just courage in what Netaji accomplished ...as a revolutionary .But these kinds of myth making must be countered by so called rationalists like you .
or may not ...if your rationality is just pretentious as I guess !

Please don't pick up your personal fight with levina in this thread.

Who told you that I have personal fight with Levina ?
