Why Vietnam Will Be the Next Nuclear State

We supplied Pakistan with some Nuclear Technology as we had good relations with them and now strategic partners there wasn't any need to stop them.

Bro it was missile technology not nuclear technology per se - That part has been denied by both China & Pakistan as well as not an iota of evidence has been provided for by those saying that China gave nuclear technology to Pakistan.

Isn't NPT already a piece of paper, though? North Korea signed, got nuclear technology and uranium supplies, developed a nuclear weapon, and then withdrew from the NPT. Iran signed the NPT, got nuclear technology and uranium supplies, and it's almost certain to develop a nuclear weapon. This is all thanks to Russia and China.

A lot of Chinese users here express outrage at the possibility of Vietnam developing nuclear weapons, but these same Chinese users seem remarkably forgiving about North Korea and Iran, and China's role in protecting these two regimes. It's fairly clear to outside observers that China would therefore not bomb Vietnam if it developed nuclear weapons, especially because of the message that would send to all of China's other neighbors.

As far as supplying Pakistan with nuclear technology, Pakistan has sold nuclear technology to several other states. Pakistan may not be a signatory of the NPT, but China is. One of the key pillars of the NPT is non-profileration, but China didn't stop Pakistan from proliferating the technology.

In short, hasn't China greatly undermined the NPT? Why should China complain if Vietnam now violates the NPT?

If the NPT was a piece of paper every country would try to attain weaponry yet they don't.

Chinese users on the internet don't represent the government. It wasn't in China's Interest for NK to develop nuclear weapons. As you can see now even China is turning it's back on NK and wanting to give up it's weaponry. You didn't seem to read my prior post did you ? China doesn't want Iran to attain nuclear weapons, with the track record of accusations on Iran and the failure to find WMDs in Iraq we would be more skeptical of western claims.

That doesn't make sense NKorea has a defense treaty with us why would we attack them ? Iran poses no threat to us why would we attack them ? Iran's program despite accusations have been mostly truthful. Vietnam is on China's doorstep and it would for sure force other countries in the region to attain N.weaponry neither in the interest of US or China and we would for sure stop them. The US is sure that IF Iran attains Nuclear weaponry then the other countries in the Middle East would attain them Saudi Arabia has been making noise for sure the US would bomb their Nuclear sites, no reason for China to act any different.

That would be true which China denied to but it would be the same for US as well on it's N.deal with India which is in violation of the NPT still it didn't stop great powers from bending rules now would it ? Hypothetical scenario if Vietnam tried to attain nuclear weapons same hypothetical scenario if Iran tried to other countries would attain it. As I stated in my prior post China wouldn't act any different than the US. Realistically Vietnam is not going to gain any N weapons.

China did provide some N technology under the table just no public statement logically it would deny this. I've seen records of this.

Sometime we overestimate (Iraq), and sometimes we underestimate (North Korea, Syria). The problem is that once a country has produced nuclear weapons, it's too late to do anything. Iran's lack of full cooperation with the IAEA makes its program appear suspicious, at the very least.

North Korea is an unstable regime that sits on your border. China can't dismiss its violations of the NPT simply because it's an ally (or Iran's simply because China needs its oil), and then turn around and demand NPT compliance from Vietnam. As far as India, I will agree that the US deal with India violated the spirit of the NPT, but on a practical level, it didn't change anything. India already had a nuclear weapon at that point, so the best that could happen was to bring India partially in line with the NPT, which is what the US-India agreement accomplished. As far as I am aware, Pakistan remains fully outside of the NPT, and its role in proliferation leads me to believe that it would be a far greater regional danger than India, at least as far as nuclear technology goes.

I hope China is consistent, and applies heavy pressure on Iran to dismantle programs that could lead to nuclear weapons development.

Bangladesh is meant nothing when compare to Vietnam, your comment is just adding the fuel and unnecessary part
Both third world heavens.

suicide re-attack shall be done in China, focus on Nuke power plants. :crazy_pilot:
Most intelligent post of the year, no wonder Vietnam is a third world heaven.

Your military is meant nothing when compared to Vietnam armed forces has, your naval, air forces, and so on is almost negligible compared to them. That's what i meant.

This appears to be one of the contributing factors of Vietnam's problem, with talks about Vietnam acquiring weapons of mass destruction. What do you think?

Who gives you the right to bomb Vietnam?
Do you assume we will not retaliate?
When you sign NPT, you agree to give up nuclear weapon in exchange for civil nuclear use. Do you understand? You are not allow to build nuclear bomb. Our American friend will bomb you. If they don't, then we will because you possess dangerous weapon that will set bad example for everyone in the neighborhood to seek nuclear weapon. If you try to be a rogue state, then we reserve the right to destroy a rogue state. The international communities will agree with us.

Did you bomb North Korea?
NK dirty bomb, you mean? We did participate in sanction against NK, didn't we? As for bombing them, it is like US bombing Israel.. Beside SK won't let us bomb them because it will lead to instability and possible risk of war over the Korea peninsula.

The cases are different between Iran and India. The former is card of Russia and China, neither of these powers really want to Iran possesses nuke. Through a long term negotiation, USA actually agreed to share its influence in middle-east with russia and china not to let Iran really complete its nuke plan.
As for india, maybe pakistan, israel, and north korea, they are illegal nuclear weapon holders. what's more, it also means that nuclear weapons held by them are not qualified, guaranteed. Without full tests, miniaturization, nuclear deterrence cannot be convincible. so the true nuke holders are still the five.

Israel never signed the NPT, so the US has no reason to bomb Israel. North Korea did sign the NPT and blatantly violated it, taking the nuclear technology provided under the NPT, then using it to build a bomb. In any case, since China will not bomb North Korea, we know it won't bomb Vietnam over NPT matters, either.

India, Pakistan, and Israel never signed the NPT, so they are not in violation of the NPT--and thus, their nuclear weapons are legal. North Korea, on the other hand, signed the NPT, gained nuclear technology while a signatory, then developed a bomb, then withdrew from the NPT. It remains to be seen if Iran is going through the same process, but only time will tell.

.
strictly speaking, you are right about NPT. but NPT is not the only constraint about nuclear weapons.
The default rule over nuke is that only the five powers can legally deploy it. As for any civil use of nuclear energy, if a country needs international assistance, the precondition is that the country should not adopt it to military use.

Israel never signed the NPT, so the US has no reason to bomb Israel. North Korea did sign the NPT and blatantly violated it, taking the nuclear technology provided under the NPT, then using it to build a bomb. Viet Nam can just carve out a small piece of land or island and let this land or island declare itself independent ie forming a new country. This new country will mysteriously possess all the nukes. Viet Nam is free of any trouble
