Why US tech companies struggle in China but thrive in India

Whatever intention Chinese regulators had in mind, the ground reality is that they helped to have created a domestic internet ecosystem in China that rivals the best in the world. Now Tencent (owns QQ and WeChat) has surpassed Samsung, to be the most valuable company in Asia.

Chinese government never gave equal footing to US companies compared to local companies for various reason. This snuffed out the likes of Amazon, Google and Facebook out of Chinese markets. In India, that is not the case.

true , laws are same for Indian or foreign companies except the FDI part. Even then foreign companies have massive advantage in terms of initial investment hence tend to thrive well against local companies which start on shoe string budget.

For chinese it is completely opposite , they can compete dollar for dollar with any MNC. As far as laws are concerned unlike India which is fair , chinese are restrictive towards MNC's. China also inherited the Hong kong which has better commerce culture and most of the competitive companies started out there.

You didn't read the article, methink.

I read. Anyway, I was expressing my opinion on why US companies struggled in China.

Indian markets will be dominated by 'US companies'. I already see Flipkart dying. Anyway, in today's world there is no 'US companies' and 'Indian companies'. This is the era of global companies. Whoever can compete better should survive. In the end the rights of the consumer is what is paramount and that is what should matter to the government

I personally am against pampering local companies at the cost of consumer. Yes, the government needs to make local companies have access to healthy capital, infrastructure and expertise, but not snuffing out the competition. Let the local companies fight their battle. Who ever is liked by the consumer will survive.

I had in Past did 4 times shopping on Chinese website DHGATE.com out of 2 times to my surprise I received Fack products, when I complained I got responce talk to the seller if he not settle with you then we will interfere.
When I asked why you send me fack product which completely looks original, she replied We deals in only facks :o: (there was no mention this product is fack on Listing). that to on official eCommerce website, I found in China there is completely open trading of fack goods of reputed American Companies.:china:. There is no protection, or you can say there Gov. itself promoting it.

BUT I must kudos, on demanding my money back (which I had no hope getting it) I got complete refund in 1 day. Both Times
This Really impressed me, they are straight (Unlike we Indians ) and far better businessman compare to us, as if in India I will never get back return (I have go through) and this way they win me and I will always buy from this site AS I know my money is completely safe also product is V cheep :D (compare to India)
Indians dont value customers, whereas Chinese are completely opposite.

@PARIKRAMA

They returned so quickly because Chinese govt will fack the company worse than Indian govt will.

Maybe that is why India is where it is today, for good or for bad? Anyway, you guys need to work harder to protect your prestigious "IT Superpower" title. :enjoy:

Good for India! China holds the title for 30 years, you guys just get started, so don't go ahead of yourself.

I find your lot are very good at finding excuse for your incompetence on just about anything, and your critical thinking skills only used against criticism. :partay:

  1. Because Chinese can execute anything at lower cost.
  2. Regulations for foreign business are strict in China versus India where they can get away with doing a lot. Mosanto, Union Carbide, etc
  3. Indians have higher disposeable income to spend versus China.
 at 3.
just like Mumbai is more developed than Shanghai

I think he is being sarcastic....
i think he believes what he is saying. do you believe Indians invented space flight 10,000 years ago?

This article is so biased. The title is "Why US tech companies struggle in China but thrive in India", but the almost whole content is about how "struggle in China", the situation of "thrive in India" totally is ignored.

We need to know how and why the US tech companies thrive in India!!! US tech companies must do some right strategy in India.
