Why U.S., China Destined to Clash

Check the date, that is old news. :D

Here is an update:

Financial Times - China becomes the world's largest manufacturer

China has become the world’s top manufacturing country by output, returning the country to the position it occupied in the early 19th century and ending the US’s 110-year run as the largest goods producer.

Considering our growth rate compared to America's, clearly the trend is going in our direction. If you guys don't want to do anything about it, then no complaints here. :azn:

The war between China and USA is inevitable, just don't know when it will come.一山不容二虎(there never will be two male tigers in one territory)

It depends on what kind of war wang. Other than a full scale military encounter, there have been "wars" going on between the 2 nations on and off for a long time in terms of trade, propaganda, resources (Africa for example), UN resolutions, diplomacy, environmental resolutions. Often times these do not escalate into full blown military conflict and often times, China seeks compromise not confrontation. The Americans need to know their blind red-neck bullying do not work on China before, less so now.

There are some other small cause, that is the increase nationalism of many Chinese, with wounds in their hearts being inculcated by the Western in the past. On the U.S side, they also have the responsibility to protect their allies as well as protecting their interests in Asia, where China is flapping its wings making to wobble the old order...

The current status quo benefits China the MOST.

No other major country is growing at 9-10% per year (don't bother with India, their growth rate just fell to 6.1%). And we are already the second largest economy to start with.

The current world order is annoying, but it serves our interests for now, and it will continue to do so for the immediate future.

I think All is not outside the conflict two of three pillars as the article analyzed: Security and Ideology. The ideological conflict between one side encourage of freedom (human, social and economic manager) and other side encourage of complete rule (human, social and economic manager) by Communist party.
The security conflict caused by the increase in China's muscle strength , while the U.S does not want to lose the dominant position of its.

Ideology has nothing to do with it. If China remains dirty poor as it was in 70s, I bet you US-China relationship will still remain very good. It is all about "who moved my cheese". As Obama put, "American would not settle to No. 2". If democratic India is at China's position today, you will also see a lot of conflicts between the two countries and all negative news about India will be digged out.

.
I think "ideology" in the article is not something that cannot to touch, not visible. The Americans believe that the monetary control of the Government of China has caused a huge trade deficit; or control the market of the China government made it difficult for U.S businesses to sell goods in China...

把此人说为 "美粉" 太高举了. 他是著名"美(梅.)毒" 跟 "台独, 藏独, 疆独" 一样恐怖. 与 韩佬哥頓.鄭般都是吃"辱国" 饭大的.

This is a one-sided accusation and groundless. US is the largest currency manipulator of the world. Heard of QE 1 and 2? Their deficit is caused by themselves for not following economic principles regarding bilateral trades with China. In fact, countries like Germany. S Korea, Japan and Vietnam also have favourable trade balances with US.

If clash means in the sense a military clash i really doubt US and China are worlds largest economies highly dependent on each other. If there will be war between these two giants it will not only sink them but will also sink world economy.

Absolutely. I still remember 15 years ago when China would still get glowing praise from US TV shows.

One line I still remember, "the 2000 year old Chinese entrepreneurial spirit once free of the shackles of communism is unstoppable". This was CBS Nightly News only 15 years ago. You don't see any praise for China now even tough that statement is more true than ever.

.
Another line from US Press 15 years ago about China....

"Communism was an anomaly for these people that invented paper money, the dynamism of the Chinese people BLah, blah, blah"

Now, it's communist China this and communist China that in the US Press. I'm pretty sure China didn't go back to communism, but you would think so from US Press.

Old? The article is barely older than one year. In manufacturing statistics, it take more than one year to establish any trend that could be interpreted as irreversible. But here is the reason...

U.S. manufacturing is No. 1, for now - Business - US business - Made in America - msnbc.com
What's changed is that U.S. manufacturers have abandoned products with thin profit margins, like consumer electronics, toys and shoes. They've ceded that sector to China, Indonesia and other emerging nations with low labor costs.
In 'high tech' goods, US manufacturing out produces Chinese workers by around several times -- per worker -- consistently for more than one year. So as long as there are those 'thin profit margins' products that China is willing to exploit her slave labor, this trend is indeed going to your favor.

You mean like this?

China's Money-Printing Addiction Could Spell Disaster - Business Insider
In the past ten years, China’s M2 has expanded at the average rate of 18.8% a year, despite the fact that the country, which has an average gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 10.9% and an average inflation rate of 3.2%, needs only 14.1% of growth in money supply to sustain its economic development.

This has driven China’s M2-to-GDP ratio in the past decade to the highest in the world.

“In the past 30 years, we have used excessive money supply to rapidly advance our economy,” said Wu Xiaoling, vice chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
