Why U.K has better relationship with China than the U.S now

Actually, no.

UK - Chinese relation was build solely around Economic Relation, but if we only consider economic cooperation, then we can say US have a better relationship to China than the UK.

Political and Diplomatic relation between the UK and China are normal, they are virtually the same between US-China or Canada-China or even Australia-China relationship.

Don't forget, China banned David Cameron from visiting Beijing in 2013 for meeting with Dalai Lama.

And the Brits have not taken the side on China regarding SCS or Senkaku issue, the Chinese did not back UK claim in Falklands, in fact, if I remember correctly, China was and still is on the side of Argentina.

But if your only measuring scale is AIIB, then...

We found a law, helping a remote country is more or less better than helping a nearby country.

1. Help a neighbor, they always doubt China want to gain something from them, actually sometimes its situation ask China to help. Another example is that USA actually stop the 2 world wars extend to latin America, did they ever show their thanks to America? I rarely heard about it.

2. Help a remote country, they may remember it. When we travel in the countries, some of them often express the appreciation. For example, during the era of colonial system collapsed in Africa, we helped African independence, they can remember it. The Belgrade local govt ( Serbia ) ever year will commemorate the Chinese reporters' death, because Chinese help them during the war. North Korean? Vietnamese? North Korean propaganda is Kim family lead the country and people defeat American. (I need to say Pakistan is an except, they are honest and kind man. )

3. China learned the lesson. So nowadays, China govt keep neutrality to the Myanmar-BD conflicts, the Malaysia-PH disputes, the Thailand-Cambodia disputes, the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan conflicts, the Iran-Israel conflicts...

I agree with jhungary, U. K China relationship is more economical in nature than military /diplomatic. I find it shocking that some people here even dare think U. k has a closer relationship with China than the U. S, really, seriously??? :woot: I don't know if that's a joke or sarcasm. Our relationship with the U. S is far more closer than even with our Europeans friends ,much less China. Economic interests are always different from military and diplomatic interests. For instance Japan and China are among each other largest trading partners , yet they are the most bitter of rivals /enemies in Asia. Lol similar to U. S-China trade relationship which is the single largest in the world, yet are they allie? or closer to each other than Europe or Japan? ? NOPE. . so today's competition, is of a different kind compared to Cold War of one block against another. It's more complex today, but more interesting. :enjoy:

So our economic relations with China aren't any different with U. S/Japan economic relations with China . Each country looks after it's economic interests to the maximum even if that means partnering with the Chinese so what? Lol . Military/diplomatic relations are another ball game altogether.

NB: Europe doesn't sees China as a threat per se, unlike the U. S. Russia is a bigger threat to us by far. So we don't view China the same way the U. S and Japan do. Reason we can take actions U. s and Japan will never do. Like selling and license providing naval military /tank engines to China. :D:D

I heard British consider "1997 return HK to China" as the sign of collapse of British Empire, is it the common sense? I really can't understand this.

What choices do the Brits have amidst all these pressures. They are serving for their own interest for the current term of office:

1. US economy shrank in first quarter amid collapse in exports - Telegraph
2. David Cameron's next big battle - the EU referendum and a possible Brexit | Business | The Guardian
3. Scottish independence: will there be another referendum? | Scottish independence News | The Week UK

So much tastes and a lot showing of frustration

Drugs and prostitution to be included in UK national accounts | Society | The Guardian

...People, UK is a US ally, not a US vassal. Just because it is not jumping through hoops as US demand, doesn't mean it like China more than US. The AIIB issue is pretty simple. US doesn't want other nations to join AIIB because China is its main competitor, but the will of US does not extend over their allies because they have their own interest to look after.
