Dear indians and americans don't know if you guys are just innocent or extremely ignorant? the person you're trying to present as an ICON and PROTECTOR of democracy in Pakistan is a product of the most brutal dictator in the history of Pakistan the guy chose his own brother and his nephew for PM and CM posts out of so many choices and you think he's good for democracy? it's our country he is corrupt and a lier he will face punishment for that stop crying and stop trying to protect a person who was damaging Pakistan and for god sake stop blaming army for this they stayed out of this whole panama fiasco so don't drag them in this.

The word meaning "truthful", which I have a feeling that you didn't know, but chose to use because you thought that it is some religious thing and hence basis for criticism and ridicule. The courts banned Mr. Nawaz Sharif from taking part in any further elections for only one reason, till the day he lives, because he lied repeatedly (ceased to be truthful) to the court under oath, after his name appeared in the Panama Leaks triggering the whole thing. Further, the former PM submitted falsified documents, during an investigation by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as ordered by the highest court of law, failing to provide a valid and sound reason for his assets/money exceeding his sources of income (and their scope). And it doesn't end here, the Supreme Court has ordered references to be filed against him and a few close family members (suspected of taking part in and/or benefiting from corruption) because of the evidence surfacing during examination by JIT. The trial that you speak of and so desperately seek, will follow this judgement soon.

He was not punished for corruption. It was a mockery. Any case of corruption requires a trial. This was simply court ruling on a report JIT by the military intelligence guys.

and according to Imran himself only angels can fulfil the requirements of article 62 and 63 of constitution introduced by dictators to remove politicians whenever they wish so if its equally applied on all politicians then no one will be left in parliament as they all will have some weakness to disqualify under any clause of article 62 and 63

To say that is a political death warrant. No politician in Pakistan can bite the hand that creates him/her. Those who giveth also taketh away.

Army believe in civilian supremacy for now at least, lets see what happened after 2013. IK tried his best to play dhandli drama and hoping army will intervene like in 90's, they didn't. Elections were largely fair and SC ruled in favour of NS.

Dawn leaks and again army had to back track. But then Panama happened which was beyond control of army or PTI. All NS had to do was provide proof of money trail. This is better though, now many corrupt people will have to present source of their income and assets they own. Only problem I see is if this accountability is stopped at NS.

so we can't punish someone for Corruption ? if other countries do, its a good Step but if Pakistan do its not Halal .. some people are mad cause their investment and asset is Gone .

Punishment should come after a proper trial. More importantly I wonder if there is an actual leader except him in your system.

Trial is about to start next week, from what we know there is 0 chance NS will get away. He doesn't have any proof of money trail at all. Clear case of money laundry which is very common in Pakistan. He will likely end up in jail.

He is declared dishonest on basis of asset concealment.
Those assets are now being probed if they were illegally acquired.

yea true..giving disqualification before trail and then sending references to NAB don't make any sense even for some legal experts

and Judges have set a very low benchmark for disqualification which if apply on others equally will leave no politician in parliament

If you hide assets from ECP which is found later on then SC can disqualify MNA. This isn't first time. Just that Cheema was average MNA and not PM Nawaz Sharif. But NAB trial mean Nawaz can end up in jail and not simple DQ.

Iftikhar Cheema had been elected to the National Assembly from Gujranwala's NA-101 constituency.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Monday de-seated Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) lawmaker Iftikhar Cheema for concealing facts while filing nomination papers, Dunya News reported.

Iftikhar Cheema had been elected to the National Assembly from Gujranwala’s NA-101 constituency. The apex court announced the decision on a petition filed by opposition candidate Ahmed Chatha.

The plaintiff alleged that the respondent had concealed details of his assets and bank statements while filing his nomination papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to contest NA-101 election.

The defense lawyer argued that his client did not hide anything. One of the accounts mentioned in the petition has been closed while another one is for mosque funds.

He said Ifikhar Cheema also gifted his Rawalpindi and Islamabad houses, thus, he didn’t commit any dishonesty in the nomination papers.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that Iftikhar Cheema is not a common person. He has remained member of the National Assembly in the previous government as well.

The PML-N lawmaker should have revealed proper details of his assets and property, Justice Jamali said.

The court disqualified Iftikhar Cheema from his seat and ordered re-election in NA-101.
