That is the same bullshit argument NS used at that time to please his masters and lords. But this crap is totally unacceptable since UAE (Dubai) has much more international trade than Pakistan and their weekend is Friday-Saturday. This was just the crappiest reason I ever heard. Instead of following Islam, they follow their masters and lords in west.

From my experience in a couple of Gulf countries, the local businesses and even those of multi nationals do take a big hit due to the off sync holidays.

It takes 3 days to get a reply from a mail you sent on Thursday, along with many other repercussions.

Airlines order parts or items from OEM's and they also take a one day delay due to the off sync holidays...kindly check up on your facts before bullshitting everything.

Almost the countries we trading are offs on Sat and Sunday including banks etc, if we have Friday off it's mean we cut off from trade in a week three time and we know how our crimple economy already moving, btw there is half day off on Fridays isn't?

Pakistan used to have Friday as free day and no harm in economy if it switches to Friday....
Friday in Arabia translate to ''Jama'' means 'get-together' which is mandatory for Muslims... if its not a free day, than people have to take free time off from work, in order to offer 'Juma' prayer.

Considering the energy shortage, Pakistan should start its day 6 in summer and 7 in winter. 8 in evening shops should close and 10 all restaurants should close.

All it takes is an executive order to change the holiday to Friday. It can be done easily again if the nation wants it fervently enough.

We have no system in place to know, what nation wants.

As far Friday holiday is concerned, its also Friday and Thursday off in Iran.

Pakistan's weekly holiday was Friday, what happened? Even though christian population is around 3-4%; why is our weekly holiday Sunday(and in some areas; saturday). Most Muslims countries have Friday as their weekly holiday and as an Islamic Republic, our weekly holiday should be Friday.

Where did I say that friday is off ?

I said I'm against weekly holidays. I'm against short working hours. I'm against the ~200 day working year. If Pakistan wants to develop it has to work 365 days a year nonstop. Just take a look at the stupidly short banking hours. Firstly only 4 full working days, then one half day and then two off days. On full working days banking hours only from 9-5. Calculate the total number of banking hours per week in pakistan compared to foreign countries many of which have a full working week, each day almost 12 hrs. Remember every day lost is money lost. Every hour lost is money lost. And there's no way to get time back once wasted waiting for that cheque to clear or for banks to open to cash that cheque.

Are you owner of Sethia Company by any Chance who went to China Impressed by the way they work and try that on Pakistan like Pakistanis would match such Efficiency without providing suitable compensation for all extra Hours put on the Work. Do you know in Manufacturing sector mostly there is only one Holiday in a Week which is Sunday as they have to manage the Targets of Productions despite of insufficient Facilities Provided. The Productivity are always Lower in such Companies despite of only one Holiday in a week because Seths dont Invest in Latest technology rather prefer to run old Machines passed there Age.

Bottom Line is that if we want to have a Productivity then we also require Adequate Technology as well in order to keep our Efficiency Higher but that would only going to happened when our Business Class start considering Latest Technology otherwise 24/7 wont going to be enough to fulfill the demand which they Promised their Clients.

Private sector is free to do what ever it wants. It will always take the most effective option according to the situation. Pakistan is overpopulated and labor as a result is cheap. So they buy lots of labor instead of investing in machines (which require electricity which we don't have).

As far as holidays in manufacturing are concerned, they vary from employer to employer. Some small/medium scale companies may not even give a sunday holiday to meet production targets.

My problem is with the government and government employees. You can go to any government department office and see how hard they work. This is my money and your money that pays their salaries. On top of that government increasing their salaries every year 10% while gdp per capita is only up by maybe 2-3%.
