We spent a lot of money hiring vloggers and influencers to come here. I guess it paid off.

That's actually true.
People here were critical of the backpacking and broke Vloggers who were often 'sponsored' by Pakistanis and so hardly contributed much $. But the Vloggers were watched by many in the world and gradually tourism situation has improved. But Pakistan needs to take advantage of its English language heritage and put captions below videos which are worth watching. Govt or some other companies should help provide such facilities even as post-production services.
For example, this video is great about the recent Dubai Expo as it covers so much so well. But only limited to those who know Urdu:

Correct.
But really should Pakistan even try to attract large numbers of tourists like some countries do? Bhutan and Myanmar could attract a lot more but they choose not to because of the environmental degradation. Is India not a filthy country despite all the tourism revenue?? You see that a lot in Western blogspace when India is mentioned. Pakistan should attract more but limit to a sensible number which can be worked out. Before all that, concentrate on domestic tourism...
France and Germany get a lot of tourists but their forest area is increasing.

We maybe your iron brothers and love you more deeper then oceans but fact is too much love can kill. Chinese are far safer in India, USA, UK then in Pakistan. I suppose this explains why more Chinese visit India then Pakistan. Too much love is deadly.
You are wrong.Pakistan is safer than USA.

The center for Security Studies (CSPI), a Pakistani think tank, released a research report on Wednesday evening, saying that by the end of 2019, the number of deaths caused by terrorist attacks in Pakistan had decreased by nearly 30% and the domestic security situation had significantly improved.

The report says one of the main reasons for the improved security situation is that the Pakistani government has stepped up its efforts to hunt down terrorists. In 2018, there were nearly 400 terrorist attacks across the country, resulting in 739 deaths, while in 2019, there were nearly 370 terrorist attacks, resulting in 518 deaths, a 29.9% decrease in the death toll. The number of deaths related to terrorist attacks and counter-terrorism fell from 980 in 2018 to 679 in 2019, a decrease of 30.7%.

As of December 10, 2019, according to the National Gun Violence Archive website. In 2019, 36,993 people, including 196 children, were killed in gun incidents in the US.

On top of that, there are 84,000 rapes a year, one every 2 minutes.

Also, as of today, the NUMBER of COVID-19 deaths in the United States is 786,268, while Pakistan has only 28,628.

Pakistan 208 million, USA 333 million. Proportionally, Pakistan is far safer than the US.

18 million tourists officially came to.india last figures,
china was 60 million pakistan.less than one million.

show me your source of 10 million.versis 145 million versus 6 million

it's not on any website I have searched
There must around a million Chinese tourists alone, they fill up the airports and coaches around the country. Then we Sikhs, Afghans, Iranians, British, europeans, Africans etc making up the millions who travel to Pakistan every year.

.
I think the main issue is the governance capacity of the Pakistani government. The US, Turkey and other countries support terrorists in Xinjiang, but the Chinese government can handle it very well. There have been no terrorist attacks in Xinjiang for many years.
this is the side effect of democracy.

.
These figures are incorrect. Sadly the truth is. Out of the 6.6 million tourists only ten are genuine tourists -

  • two came because they were married to Pakistani men
  • two came to attend radical courses in madaris
  • one made mistake and came for drug peddling
  • five came because they were sponsored to do Vlogs about Pakistan and had 20 police guards hidden behind the cameras.

Rsst of .6 million are people like me, @azad Kashmir, @Meangla meaninb ex-pat Pakistani's coming to visit family/friends or check up to see if their land or house has not been grabbed by local mafias.

did not you forget one who came without visa, crashing!

Islamabad: Inbound tourism in Pakistan has witnessed a marked increase of over 70 per cent during the year 2018 as compared to corresponding year, mainly due to multiple initiatives, specially improved security situation.
The number of foreigners who visited Pakistan in 2018 on tourist visas stands at 17,823, which was 10,476 in 2017,” according to the data released by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC).

Overall, 60,070 foreigners visited tourist attractions in the country during the past six years, especially to the mesmerising places located in the northern parts of the country.
The report’s comparative analysis showed that the foreign visitors’ inflow declined drastically in 2014, by over 47 per cent, compared to 2013 when 10,560 foreign tourists came to Pakistan for including religious, adventure, or cultural tourism. Only 5,575 foreigners arrived Pakistan on tourist visa in 2014, it showed.
After 2014, the arrivals went up as a result of the gradual improvement in the security situation, following operations to eliminate terrorism from the country.

In 2015 and 2016, a slight increase was seen when foreign tourist count climbed to 6,475 and 9,161, respectively. However, inbound tourism started recovering in 2017 as the number of foreign tourists returned to 2013 level, with 10,476 visiting Pakistan on visas.
