Why is Kannada, karnataka and kanndigas don't have enough recognition?

A lay man in any part of south India knows that mohan lal is a malayali ,chiranjivi is a telugu and rajanikanth is a tamil hero.however no one including me knows the name of single kannada actor.

Many south indians know that bharata natyam is a dance form from tamil nadu ,kuchipudi from andhra pradesh and kathakali from kerala.
But what is the dance form of karnataka ?

A state like kerala which is smaller than karnataka has its unique identity.
Why doesnt karnataka have one ?No one seems to be bothered that there is a language called kannada or people called kannadigas.

Seems you have no idea about Kannda film industry

Know about this gem of an actor Dr. Raj Kumar

You haven't had your own superstars. You did not idolize any Kannada actor to the level that Rajni or Chiranjeevi or Mammutty/Mohan lal were idolized in their respective states. So no Kannada actor is that famous. Even Rajkumar never enjoyed that status. The fault lies with you. Not with others for not knowing a superstar from your state, since you never had one.

One of the reason is Dr.Rajkumar is a simple person, still a great fan following here in Karnataka !

Infosys owner is a tamilian..rahul dravid is a Marathi.
Infosys owner is tamilian? really how can you be so ignorant. Rahul learnt his cricket in Bangalore played for Karnataka not Maharastra. You still havent replied to my question "an you name me the state that got most number of gyanapeeta awards other then hindi?"

.
When you don't have a strong culture it is easy to accommodate as well as to get assimilated...you come to my state of telangana and see how Telugu festivals like ugadi and sankranti are being celebrated with equal fervor by marwadis and north Indians..I think the same is the case with north Indians in Tamil nadu and kerala..but I don't think that is the case in karnataka..because they don't have as strong a culture as other states..instead of assimilating others into their culture they get assimilated into settlers culture and call it accommodating... :D
its unfair to compare poor and backward telengana with prosperous karnataka.
May be you dont have much going on, so hold on to your culture?

I am sorry..narayanamurthy is a kannadiga..karnataka has more than it's share of gyanpeeth awardees, some good cricketers and some good businessmen..but at the end of the day what matters is does Kannada or it's culture have enough recognition?see until now I was thinking narayanamurthy is a tamilian..maybe kannadigas themselves don't treat their language and culture with respect?

Karnataka is called as the cradle of banking in India. This is because seven of the country's leading banks, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Corporation Bank, Vijaya Bank, Karnataka Bank, Vysya Bank (Now Kotak Mahindra Bank) and the State Bank of Mysore originated from this state.

How ironic that this comes from a person whose people have lost their Telugu culture under the rule of Nizam of Hyderabad.

You have to visit places like Mantralaya, Belur Halebeedu, Shravanabelagola to understand the cultural riches that the people of the state have preserved.

There is only one answer to this question we are not radical fanatics like in other states and we accept other people with open arms. If you ask a Kannadiga for a route in Tamil you will be surprised that you will get a reply in Tamil (or at least broken Tamil)

same if someone asks for info in any other language. We are a pluralistic society with very few radical elements. We love Kannada but we don't impose it on others so you seldom hear about it.
Agreed, ppl from Karnataka are more accommodating. One reason it does not get noticed bcos less -ve news. I have seen few riots in decade or so. Less disruptive elements to create ruckus. PPl are proud but that does not mean they wear it on their forehead.

There are lot many news from karnataka which ends getting tagged as national news. Once upon a time there were 6-7 players from karnataka in indian cricket team.

I am not sure what the OP means when he says that the Karnataka culture isn't strong, but the unique thing about Karnataka is that "It is a TRUE bridge between Northern and Southern India"!

And it shows in Karnataka's
1. Music (only state in India where both Hindustani and Carnatic style of music are given prominence and practiced),
2. Cuisine (In fact, some of North and South Karnataka cuisines are so different that they could as well be from another country),
3. Languages (Hindi/Marathi/Urdu spoken in both Bangalore and Northern Karnataka to a significant extent and with fluency),
4. Even politics - only state in the South where BJP (which is "perceived" to be a North Indian party) is strong enough to form a government on its own.

But I have to somewhat agree with the OP when it comes to protecting the interests of Karnataka and its people at the national level. I won't go into details but it is evident in matters such as 'Kaveri/Krishna/Tunga-Bhadra/Mandovi' waters and even in Railway Infrastructure development in Karnataka.

Just consider the fact that despite being the source of so many major rivers, Karnataka is the second most arid region in India - next only to Rajasthan!

Being the source does not really help. For example, you could compare Godavari River at Nashik with Rajahmundry
