Why is India's pollution much worse than China's?

How often do western media report Kashmir, how often do US and other western countries try to pass a bill condemning atrocity in Kashmir and try to take it to UN to discuss?

How many Chinese care about US embassy readings? We always know that was bad and Chinese social media will filled with angry comments and sarcastic jokes about smog, we do care and we are very determined to make a difference, US embassy's data can mean something to foreign expats but 99.9% don't even know that, back then we all have air purifiers at home which have readings of their own ( mine is sitting there collecting dust now cause we no longer need it ).

India's problem is the smog is bad but the public don't care, they just tend to live with it. It only became an issue after China's smog news flooded the internet and suddenly Indians found that the smog in India is even worse than China's, China help Indians being aware of the existence of this problem in a sense.

Chinese government is a highly responsive government, where there is a problem occuring with public grivances , the government of all level are always able to response quickly and organize resources of different kinds getting the problems fixed fast. This quick response mechnism is China's big advantage over the western countries.

As usual, you didn't address my point, you just changed the topic. :coffee:

The main reason it was made a big deal was because China was denying there was a problem.

One of the main reasons China cleaned up their air pollution is because the US Embassy installed an air pollution update page that proved that the Chinese media calling the brown haze “fog” for decades was a complete farce. The pollution page got so many hits and was referenced so much that the Chinese government finally admitted the fog was pollution.

So just how sad were things in terms of the Chinese government trying to cover it up..try this 2012 article

China Asks Other Nations Not to Release Its Air Data

After years of choking smog that stings the eyes and burns the lungs, regularly documented by an air sensor at the American Embassy in Beijing that posts the results hourly on Twitter, the Chinese government took a strong position on the issue on Tuesday.

Wu Xiaoqing, the vice minister for environmental protection, demanded that foreign governments stop releasing data on China’s air.

...
In case anyone missed the point, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, Liu Weimin, said at a briefing later in the day, “Of course, if the foreign embassies want to collect air-quality information for their own staff or diplomats, I think that is their own matter, but we believe that this type of information should not be released to the public.”

So now the Chinese PDF members instead of being thankful are being spiteful...unreal.

How truly sad can things be if millions of Chinese people are turning to the US Embassy to supply them with real air quality data.

BTW they eventually banned Twitter...because it made news they couldn’t hide through censorship available to the masses. How admirable!

But according to our Chinese friends the west only lies about China, that smog was also a lie and everything is a lie, only CPC tells the truth. If CPC says its fog then it MUST be fog!!!!!!

I concur, The smog issue in China was definitely made out to be the end of the world. It was reported like Armageddon was upon us. The indian smog is just basic news reporting at most.
Yet you have the usual intellectually dishonest trolls pull out the usual script of the handful quickly sweeped token "reports" handling India with kid gloves deep out of some archives and act like the earth is flat and there is no Western mainly U.S. regime mouthpiece dominated propaganda campaign against China at all and its of course all "Chinese propaganda" and "ingorance" for "uninformed" Chinese" citizen to recognize the obviously absolutely disproportionate amount propaganda against China, especially the amount and brazeness of objectively false and factually baseless claims and accusations and deliberate omissions of context like Chinese climate, even passing off fog and pictures of other countries as China and promoting pseudo "facts" fabricated by non less questionable than the U.S. regime equaly or even before more comprehensive public scientific research, while much worse offenders are visibly getting a pass for obvious reasons.

Adding to the irony of course, is that dropping farcial token reports to pull out the fallacious "but but there was some reports about actual/worse offenders too!!!! no bias!" card is just as much straight out of the playbook of propaganda that is vehemently denied here, as is creating background noise, resonating with the real target, for astroturfing, and the average "free thinking" sheep has most likely only ever been spoonfed something about India exactly because of the massive amount of propaganda against China in first place.

They were already making a big deal about air pollution in Beijing due to the 2008 Olympics. This is why it started making big headlines.

If they were having the Olympics in Bangladesh next month we’d be hearing about Bangladesh’s air pollution every day. So give it a rest.

In fact we’d be hearing China say the Olympics shouldn’t be held in such a backwards environment “compared to modern China”...as if China never points out negative stuff. The Chinese media would be making fun of them for the number of sooty diesel buses, antique non-cashless payments, no facial recognition technology convenience, etc.

But oh boy if somebody said something about the air pollution in China...OMG out come the rabid nationalists denouncing any criticism as a full blown all-encompassing complete western coordinated plot against “OUR CHINA” ....like a bunch of hypocritical crybabies.

Let's not pretend there were actually anything callled "unbiased free press", especially when it comes to "evil commie China", and people in the West actually have such a heartfelt TLC for "those poor Chinese".

I have lived in both sides of the pond long enough to know what they really look like. Its not like any one of them is a saint and the other is satan. All I care about is which one is progressing, and which one is screwing around and being screwed. Ever wonder why one of these two is crying about the other 24/7 at the national level, but the other was just like "oh, ok"?

People here didn't bother to fully undersatnd what makes China tick and what carries China to where it is today beyond "evil commie", and worse, they never learn from their past mistakes to be smarter next time. I thought people who have connections with both would have a little better understanding than regular pedestrians here.
