Why is India staying silent on the bloodbath in Egypt?

India urges Egypt factions to abjure violence, hold dialogue

India Friday said it has been following with concern the developments in Egypt where over 600 people, mostly supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi, have been killed and urged both sides to abjure violence and engage in dialogue.

In a statement, the external affairs ministry spokesperson also said that the Indian mission in Cairo is in close touch with the Indian community, who number around 3,000, and with the Indian companies to ensure their continued safety.

"We have been following the recent developments in Egypt with concern, particularly the tragic loss of large number of lives in Cairo and other cities. We urge all sides to abjure violence, exercise maximum restraint and engage in an earnest dialogue that will promote national reconciliation and permit an early transition towards a stable and peaceful democratic set-up," the statement said.

"Our Mission in Cairo is in close contact with all sections of the Indian community and with the Indian companies that have a presence in Egypt. We are maintaining active liaison with the concerned authorities to ensure their continued safety," the spokesperson said.

Egypt has been rocked by massive protests since the ouster of the country's first democratically elected president Mohammed Morsi by the military on July 3. The Muslim Brotherhood-backed president is being held incommunicado at a secret location.

The army-backed Egyptian government led by interim President Adly Mansour cracked down on the sit-ins by tens of thousands of Morsi supporters on Wednesday, leading to violence in which over 600 people, mostly protesters, were killed.

The violence on Wednesday is said to be by far the deadliest day since the 2011 popular uprising began in Egypt and saw the toppling of long-time ruler Hosni Mubarak.

Both pro and anti -Morsi camps have been holding huge protests across Egypt.

Morsi had visited India in March as president and stressed on deeper economic ties with India during talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Tiananman took place after months of failed negotiations, the residents of Beijing don't even support the students. You can't compare these events.

Exactly why democratic super power of India should send troops.

Tell these things to the delusional guys who still feel there is Ummah, not us . Egypt is in middle east and we can only show our concern, Or we can do some help to the wounded guys or some advice.

India has no business in the internal matter of Egypt.

China urges restraint in Egypt

Updated: 2013-08-15 13:59 ( Xinhua)

BEIJING - China on Thursday urged all parties in Egypt to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue.

"China is paying close attention to the situation in Egypt, and is deeply concerned about its development,
" said Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei while commenting on Egyptian police's decision to clear protest camps in Cairo, where supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi had gathered.

The dispersal resulted in clashes that have left at least 278 people dead, including 43 policemen, and more than 2,000 injured across Egypt, according to the Health Ministry.

Hong said China hoped all parties would put the interests of the country and people first and exercise restraint to avoid more casualties. He called on all sides to resolve their differences through dialogue and to restore order and social stability

Look at the bold part and look at the following.
The last time when India’s Ministry of External Affairs had made a statement on Egypt was on 4 July, 2013. Apart from saying the usual stuff like “”We are closely monitoring the evolving situation in Egypt,” the MEA had then urged “all political forces to abjure violence, exercise restraint, respect democratic principles and the rule of law and engage in a conciliatory dialogue to address the present situation”
Looks like it is CTRL C + CTRL V

US doesnt want Morsi to rule because of the spread of influence by the Muslim Brotherhood

So what ?

Do not behave like your master CCP and try to tell us what to mention or what not to mention.

Look at this atitude. you and your people never grow up from tragedies

I am glad we have learnt though in the hard way and move on. Time will give history a justice to Tiananmen Sq

indians have too many "Tiananmen Sq" you are just in exhaustion to cope with the growing crackdowns and bloody backlogs

But you are the beacon of democracy and a world power.

Donot confuse Inda with USA, India is a maturing democracy, India needs some improvements.

India is a regional power, India never does policing nor try to show its muscle. It is USA's game plan in the middle east that is causing this blood bath. They are eating islamic countries one by one and the list is a big one.

I heard now that the fires are spread to Tunisia. Islam is the enemy and who ever or which ever country tries to go Islamic way will be destabilized and made to give up the Islamic foundations.

Soon these guys will focus on S.Asia and Asia Pacific.

In my View if India can protect itself from the plague unleashed by West on middle east and Afghanistan and Pakistan, it is a great success for us.

We have our own problems to solve..... Btw what you want us to do??????

What attitude and what lessons?.

The only lesson that was learned by CCP is how to crush the protesters and hunt their families for a life time.

The only lesson learnt by Chinese is, no matter how much you protest for your human rights and democracy CCP will crush it ruthlessly.

Do not try to lecture some things which you have no idea and yet to learn. Like in that INS Vikrant thread.

But India is a larger democracy than the US, in fact, the largest democracy.

And everywhere I read india is a whisker away from being a super power

All the more india should do a pre-emptive strike!

You heard it right but it will take longer time, ask us after we have become Super power. And Super power do not mean meddling in internal affairs.

On whom? India has Pakistan and some terror networks to take care of.

Most of our problems could trace roots to:
1. our own rotting in some way
2. foreign intervention subversively or conspicuously
3. some of the people have indeed violated the rules

Unlike india where

1. operation green hunt( license to arrest and kill ) is still going on in its most bloodiest rampage against your people
2. famers committing suicides in record numbers
3. armed forces special power acts - license to kill
4. mass graves - Kashmir
... and some more

I am not giving lecture to anyone on any thread Take or leave or participate in the discussion as you please
