Bah ajahzetoon. I would like to preface this first that I am a first generation Iranian American (born in the US), and I do fully acknowledge myself as American and I love my country very much but I also have a deep cultural and emotional conection with Iran since I have been there over 5 times (each time I go I stay for at least 2-3 months)and I know the people and food, history etc...
My question regarding this thread is that I want to get an honest answer on Iran's performance and overall survivability factor in engaging a war with any of its neighbors especially ones like Isreal and Saudi Arabia (I honestly don't think that Iran and Pakistan will ever have a full on shooting war).
I know Iran has thousands of ballistic missiles as well as tel's and cruise missiles but that is a deterrent and can't be used in the first stages of the war at least I don't think it can. Also from my lurking at Iranmilitaryforum ( I had lurked for about 5 years, never made an account) I gather the sense that Iranians fully beleive that they can defeat any oposing military even if it be nuclear with far superior weaponry.
If some one from Iran ideally would explain in detail ( or as best as you can) what makes Iran so dangerous to attack.
I would like to note that I had viewed almost all of yavar's post on iranmilitaryforum and agreed with 97% of the things he had said and or posted. I also know of Iran's military strategy of misleading it's enemies into believing it's stronger or weeker then it may seem and revealing false military programs in order to hide the real ones.
And again I want to say I love Iran with all my heart it's people culture food.
Peace and love also hello to everyone lol.
Hello ,
Seems like your question was lost in middle of the quarrel.
Please note that when the title says fight, it doesn't mean starting a war. It says Iran should return the favor to put them in their place. For example, I don't know if you heard that right now, any ship that is destined for Iran or coming from Iran is not allowed to enter KSA's waters. It is a very aggressive policy that Iran can easily respond to but saying ok, so from now on, no ship that is heading to KSA or leaving KSA can pass through Strait of Hormoz which is Iranian territory and will effectively kill KSA's seaborn trade in Persian Gulf.
To answer your second question, Iran's military is not designed for aggression or invasion. Iran, due to the sanctions and many other factors, has designed its armed forces in a defensive way. As you can see, even when it is asked for help by a foreign country like Syria or Iraq in their war, there are not formal military divisions dispatched to those countries like the ones Russia has dispatched. There are many reasons for that and one is the fact that Iran doesn't want its actions to turn into a sectarian war between Shia and Sonies so it usually interferes indirectly.
In case of a real war between Iran and KSA, or any other regional country, Iran hopes to effectively destroy the opponents' air force and vital infrastructure using its missiles. That's why the biggest portion of Iran's military R&D is being spent on missiles and increasing their precision and destructive power. At the same time, Iran realizes its weakness in air warfare so it is working on its ballistic missiles and likes to use them in a tactical way to make up for shortcomings in the areas like strategic bombers. For example, now Iran has anti radiation ballistic missiles that are supposed to take out the enemy's radars in the first wave, then it has cluster warheads that drop tens of small bomblets which are designed to destroy the airport runways and that way paralyze enemy's air force. And in the end it has cruise and ballistic missiles with heavy warheads that can be used against enemy's vital infrastructure. Overall the hope is that after 3-4 days of sustained missile raids, enemy's radars, airports, ports, power plants, refineries, bridges and etc will be all destroyed. That should bring the enemy to negotiation table and if not, there is not much that such a messed up country could do to Iran anymore.
On the other hand, the other area that Iran is assigning most of its R&D budget to is AA defense and Radars. Iran is among the very few countries possessing OTH radars and is heavily working on passive detection which can track and pinpoint enemy's jets and missiles without emitting any signals rendering enemy's anti-radiation missiles useless. Iran is currently deploying the S-300 system and is also working on a similar home made version that is supposed to be up and running next year. It already possesses a large variety of low and mid range AA missile systems that are effective against drones, jets and cruise missiles. Again, this is supposed to make up for Iran's air force short coming on the defensive side.
Hope fully that answered your question.
