Many creative inventions actually came from China until the rise of the west in 18th century. Confucian culture, however, values collectivism over individualism. In the west, individualism equates to creativity.

What is also true, collectivism Confucian produce more reserved culture, Indians are the opposite, very outspoken and sociable, these attributes blend in better with American culture. In university, you see East Asian students mostly keep to themselves, Indian students mingle with everyone, active participants in fraternity and clubs. In corporate culture, it's networking. Culturally, Chinese (and East Asian in general) tend to follow the rules and procedures strictly, at least better than other races. Look like that a lot of people think that by-pass procedures and ignore the rules are creative and therefore, they think they are better at creativity.

However, judging by measurable criteria, like patents, inventions, small improvement initiatives, etc. East Asian are the most creative, even on per capita calculation.

In 2019, China, japan and Korea have more international patents registered at WIPO than the whole of the remaining world combined.
