Sorry a Manna Dey/ Kishore
So what, they were great composers but you forgot the likes of Burman family, Salil Dey, Om Prakash
Bengali Language varies from region to region. But around 60% if West Bengalis speak the standardise Bengali you write or the notable writer Humayun Ahmed used.
You know how we understand a Bangladeshi, his use of English words while speaking. For example you use friend instead of Bandhu. Pure Hindi words are not mingled while speaking, like you do with English. Saying so, Keep in mind 80% of Bengali words has their origin in Sanskrit and for hindi its over 90%.
Hindi is in use in Kolkata and her suburb's because of a good amount of non Bengali population. Still govt schools do not teach Hindi. Rural bengal you will find a few who can speak hindi.
Do you know because of strong protest from Bengalis and Tamils, there is not any national language of India. Why we need to protest in 1952 and 1971, we have the right to speak and use it in all official communications. Between many in BD doesn't know that in India 15 people lost their life for Bengali language, more than 21st Feb. Google and get it.
Bengali culture is Kolkata centric, though Daka is a older city. Bengal Renessa to the series of powerful writers/poet of Bengali literature all have to indebit to the city. Intellectual quotient of Bangladesh was so poor that they have to take an outright West Bengal person to become their national poet during independence.
Hindi and Urdu are there since we are a multi linguistic country. We believe in right of all.
