I think Bangladesh should target niche types of tourism instead of trying for mass tourism like backpackers and vacationers. We dont offer much choices for mass tourism. However, we do offer a great deal when it comes to things like wildlife and religious tourism.
For example, there is a lot of buddhist viharas(paharpur, mianmati) in bangladesh which played a crucial role for mahayana and vajrayana buddhism. We could market them to followers in countries in SEA or east asia. Same with bishwa ijtema. A lot of followers from other countries visit us, we should market places like 60 dome mosque or the mirza mosque to them.
Three things that play in bringing tourist to country
1)infrastructure but the most important part of it is transportation such as railway, roads etc
2)people being hospitable enough to accept and leave a good memory on the tourists
3)places for tourists to go such as monuments, forts, parks etc
now if we look at Bangladesh there is a problem with infrastructure being highly congested also are there any breathtaking destinations for the tourists can the tourists feel at ease when traveling and interacting with the people?
