If you are doing well, Good congrats! I'm sincerely happy for any S. Asian nation that does well. If you are truly doing good and feeling so insecure that you have to compare yourself to India because of your hubris, you get smaller than you actually are..

We do not like to see India as our benchmark for comparison. I only compared BD to India here as it's a thread about BD opened by an Indian. When a country needs to compare itself to India then something is seriously wrong with said country.

China till 80s was in a similar state but turned around its path by making sports a part of its culture. It was able to do that due to a different governance system that can’t be replicated in other countries that easily.

For Communist nations Sports/Olympics was always part of the nation culture

The Govt notion behind this was a sport culture in the nation promotes a healthy population
The healthy population in turn provide good soldiers

How is it same? Does your Olympic team have more gov officials than athletes? So what is it, a team of 500 with 126 athletes? Else you cannot say it's the same.

Well our total contingent number was 228 out of which 126 were athletes while the rest are support staff. It's not uncommon for countries to send a good number of support staff...particularly when their whole contingent is numbered under 20
