What's new

Why don’t more Bangladeshis visit Pakistan?

Our landscape is more diverse than Bhutan and Srilanka. If you love lush green valleys , snow capped peaks there aren't many places in the world that rival's Pakistan.

I don't think it will complicate things on your passport. More Pakistani's get American visit visa than Bangladeshi's do. Same goes for UK/Schengen visa if you see numbers. In last 5-6 years we have had a surge in foreign tourism and one of the reasons is ease of visa process. Another is we have improved road network and 5 star hotels even at places which are 8000 feet above sea levels. Tourism industry is now worth $8-10 billion in Pakistan

Visa process is very simple now you dont need to visit any consulate. Just apply online. They introduced this last year. Bangladesh is on the list of eligible countries that can apply online and get a visa.
Dude I looked up and if you get on a motorway, In just 28 hours you can go from Karachi to Skardu, all of it is connected- if we get a decent rail line that's a game-changer honestly
I have seen a lot of people going out more nowadays because of it, as a history geek North Punjab and Pakhtunkwa are rich with very ancient historical places- ever since Indus valley civilization first emerged another civilization appeared somewhere else than when that collapsed another emerged because of it we have some of the most ancient places in the whole world
I am planning on making a whole history tour somewhere down the line

Honestly, I don't care about foreign tourism as much,
I think domestic tourism can/does make a lot of money, not to mention how we get to experience each other's cultures, way of life, history, lets improve that, and when we get used to that and smooth it out over a couple of years
then maybe look for foreign, rn lets do domestic tourism

Islamabad is connected to Peshawar in the west and Lahore on the east by expressways so you can visit both historical cities within 3 hours max
can go north to Gilgit Baltistan by air or road, world-beating awesome mountain scenery and culture of the Hunza valley.
visit Swat or Chitral and visit Kalash valleys. unique and get to see some legacy of Alexander's visit to this region

Areas around Islamabad is also the historical heartland of majority of the ancient civilizations of Pak, so even for a historical tour, this is great

Before the greeks, there was no concept of making a buddha statue, when Greeks came to Pakistan,
they made statues of their gods and added Buddha together, this statue of Buddha spread like wildfire, and now everyone does Buddha statue but it wasn't always the case, Greek-based in Pak did it first

Affordability of overseas travel is an issue, people can travel to India by bus which is cheaper. The ones who can afford to travel by air would rather choose Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Lankawi and Maldives. I don't think many Bangladeshis think of Pakistan as a popular travel destination. There seems to be a recent trend of people traveling to Bali and Langkawi.

Plus Pakistan has invested heavily recently in having 5 star hotels at such high altitudes.

Introducing luxury buses recently has also made life easy. Look at these Q connect buses that run between Islamabad and Lahore.

Recent government has invested heavily in tourism thats why you see a boom both in local and foreign tourists

.
Pakistan is a country with beautiful landscape that rivals India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

I can see why a Pakistani would say meh at Bangladesh’s landscape given the bounty in their border.

But Bangladeshis should visit Pakistan not just India.

I think they will be treated much better than they are in India. Especially unsafe due to Hinduvta thugs.

I personally would love to visit Pakistan but getting a Pakistani visa on my passport would complicate things!!!!

I want to hear:

1. What Pakistanis are doing to attract Bangladeshi tourists.

2. What would make Bangladeshis visit Pakistan over India.

And pls refrain from demanding apologies from Pakistan for 1971! If you can trade with the savage Burmese and shake hands with the terrorist Modi - you can be civil to Pakistanis whilst cajoling them for a reconciliation.

We have more Bengals in Pakistan than India who are permanently living in Pakistan.
And you are talking about visits...

I suggested a long time ago that Pakistan should open a lifeline for Central Asia "~Stan" cotton to pass to Bangladesh via China (Kashgar) using Karachi port and overland route. If Pakistan allows this, then Pakistani semi-truck operators can make a tidy living transporting Cotton from Central Asian republics.

Bangladeshi container carrier vessels are quite ready and capable to link Karachi port with Chittagong port. They already link with EU Southern ports and can stop at Karachi to pick up cotton (or Pakistani exports) containers on the way, before/after Suez Canal.
As far as I know, of all the --stans, Uzbekistan is the top producer of long-fiber cotton, However, for all practical purpose the best route may not be via Afghanistan. It is too long a land route.

I have read somewhere that Uzbekistan uses Caspian Sea - Azarbaizan - Black Sea - Bosphorus Strait route for its foreign trade.

Wah! Beautiful Masha Allah!

Sam Chui flew to Skardu sometime ago, I want to trace his steps. Some spectacular scenery at the top of the world....

You may be right- but once CPEC highways are done, one can go to China (Kashgar) past Northern Pakistan will be trouble free route I believe. Maybe one of the Pakistani brothers can confirm this.

Welcome back, by the way! :-)

Absolutely stunning!

Not many countries can match that heritage.

You Pakistanis are underselling your heritage!

You should be ashamed!

Where is the marketing guy?

Most welcome. :-)

I don't think we are talking about the same type of Bengalis.

Visitors and tourists from Bangladesh typically will be higher middle class people and of course be able to afford at least three star hotels. They will also shop at boutiques and malls rather than roadside bazaars and stores.

There were many Bengalis living in Pakistan till early 2000's.

My Quran teacher was a Bengali Molvi sahab. There used to be a Bengali community near my home in Karachi, I think they still live there, but population has greatly reduced though.

-- They're hardworking people, I must say, quick learners and agile

-- Visting Bangladesh is in my Bucket list. I'm wondering if Urdu is still spoken there
they r still here. Its just that abb log parh likh gye hain. There is a rising Bengali nuke scientist in PINSTECH. We have high hope from him in nuclear sciences.

Here is Dr Qaiser Bengali, the famous Economist of Pakistan.

Most bangladeshis know atleast a few words in urdu. The younger generation speaks urdu reasonably well because of Bollywood.
