What's new

why does fighter jets manufacturers make only single and double engines planes?

fighter planes engineers decided not to have more than two engines cause
1. Drag well it will be realli increasd many folds thus taking away more power advantage

2. more feul consumption as compared to two engine design

3. increase in dry weight which coupled by drag will make the jet even slower

4. more ir and RSC signature

5. more maintainence oriented than two engine design

well some where i heared to baniyas were talking

1. i will increase production by hiring 10 instead of 5 workers

2. lolz i will fire the fifth worker and distribeute his pay to the other 4 and give them intensive if they perform better than the 5

hope u got the point

but bro stealth design is the known solution for any drawbacks of conventional jets. :agree:
Yes but what about the cost. Had that been so easy, USA would have developed only stealth technology and dumped the conventional designs

our chinese bro's will find a suitable solution in order to reduce costs... with help of american designs..

If you are flying battleship jet then you can use at least 10 retractable and 360 degree movable engines to maintain maneuverability on consistent basis.

Not enough air to feed 3 engines, unless you put 1 air intake on each side of the fuselage and 1 air intake underneath the fuselage.

Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 had 3 engines. Not a looker mind you.

Until then lets be happy with single/twin engine jet fighters :)
