Why does China keep supporting Burma in the Rohingya crisis?

What are your thoughts on how Bangladesh should navigate this mess?

Pragmatically, I would hope BD sends delegations to Muslim and Western countries to put tangible pressure on Myanmar, that includes a re-imposition of sanctions. This actually gets other states from financially and diplomatically backing the Burmese regime. Which in turn actually slows down the ethnic cleansing in Rakhine itself. If there was ever a scenario where sanctions actually helped anyone (I am more often against sanctions) it would be this one.

Also have the IC demand that they give Rohingya autonomy or self-rule. If you don't want to deal with them then let them have their own patch of land and you put up a fence so you don't have to worry about illegals and "Bengali invaders" crossing the border like you keep saying. The idea that anyone leaves BD to move into Myanmar in the last 50 years is beyond laughable, it's pathetic.

Ideally, Bangladesh needs to get ready for a border skirmish. Do everything as noted above, but send in the troops to try to create a Safe Zone which extends into the Kaladan River. That way nobody touches nobody anymore. The Rohingya get to live on a small piece of land, and Myanmar can deport anyone they don't like into the Safe Zone if they don't want them anywhere else.

Any border conflict won't get out of hand because if Myanmar tries to send in planes to target the BD heartland, we could do the same and just take out their whole damn gasfield in Rakhine. They have more to lose. A refugee crisis in BD itself would be disastrous for India and the world at large, so they won't want that to happen. This won't get any more serious than the dozens of border conflicts in other parts of the world that leaves the heartland unaffected.

Eveybody wants to live in their home, be it Uyghurs or Bangladeshi. But Uyghurs became minority in their own home and in the verge of extinct. In hundred years from now there will not be any Uyghurs left in China.

In 1949 they have 3 million and now 12 million and are still having the highest population growth rate among all ethnic groups in China ( ethnic Koreans the lowest growth rate in China). So try to accuse China of genociding ethnic Koreans next time, at least you have some facts and numbers to back up your claim.

Koreans are moving out to Korea where they came from. Uighurs have been living in in Xinjiang for well over a thousand years, there's no Republic of Uighuria they can just migrate to for convenience.

Ethnic Germans were once numerous in Russia and Central Asia. 95% of them migrated to Germany and Western Europe after the fall of the wall.

Korean Chinese live in their ancestrol land in China for thousands of years, they are not immigrants, their number is also increasing but not as many as other ethnic groups in China, I m talking about birth and growth rate.

Koreans Chinese think they are Chinese citizens, not Korean ones.

Conversations with Chinese Korean youth suggest as much. Indeed, when asked to reflect on their Korean identity, a common response is borderline incredulity: “Why? We are Chinese.”

Its not about birth and growth rate, but migration of Han in the Uyghurs which is the burning point. Just search for demographic change of Uyghurs.

Guess you don't know, Han Chinese settled down in Xinjiang much earlier than Uyghurs, Uyghurs they themselves are migrants from Mongolia.
Uyghurs were never a Han country in any of the history book.

Just because the Han empires in the past conquered Xinjiang/Uyghurstan at different points in the past for a brief time doesn't mean that the Han now there are from back then. Every Uighur can trace their history in the region for hundreds of years whereas most of the Han in Xinjiang have only been there for a century or a few decades at best. The Han had never predominated that region.

Chinese are always bringing up this fallacy to strengthen their claims to something. Anything the Chinese touch it automatically belongs to them for rest of history. Greeks conquered most of the middle-east but that doesn't make those places Greek territory.

Not in your history books, but in ours. US was never a country 300 years ago, Russia 600 years ago, so your argument is meaningless.

You can say it to most big countries in the world and tell them some part of their land don't belong to them. Try US and Russia first.

Yeah just like how your history books claim the South China Sea belongs to you because it has china on the name or some Chinese fisherman fished their once. Chinese can breathe air somewhere and will claim it belongs to them.

This type of mentality is why China steals copyrights and ideas. A Chinese sees something "I saw it with my eyes....therefore I owned it since ancient time."

Are you talking about western colonist? They did claim whatever they saw theirs, even people.

I know very well about Russia. I just mentioned the Circassians not long ago. I don't want to see the same happen to other Muslim ethnic groups.

We're not in the West. The Old World follows Old Rules. Regardless of that, the modern age has different perceptions of how populations and treatment of ethnic groups works.

Talking is cheap, what are you gonna do? Try to separate Xinjiang from China and merge it into Afghanistan? Good Luck!

I'm not going to do anything myself. But I'm sure someone over there has a bullet with your name on it. Just speculating...

The West is slowly but surely cutting ties with China.

But glad to see you respond the way you did when I mentioned Circassians. Once again confirming you guys DO indeed have genocide planned.

Believe what you want, but actions speak louder than words, you are all big talk, boring.
