Why does China have so many agriculture universities?

Do you have an agricultural university in your hometown?
@cirr @Cybernetics @TaiShang @Chinese-Dragon et al

In Wuhan, we have Central China (Huazhong) Agricultural University ,one of the best agricultural universities in China, the best in Central China of course.

Many ministers of Department of Agriculture graduated from this one.

I shouldn't say this in a Pakistani forum...but.....anyway

I don't think CPC cares much(or at all) about Pakistan.....they'll work with Pakistan when it is win win for both...maybe to counter India(as eventually India will be their competitor in Asia be it 20 or 50 years)...as long as their priorities match China and Pakistan will collaborate...but other than that I don't think CPC or Chinese people has any soft corner for Pakistan....

On topic some years back BD started imported Chinese orange....I was quite fond of it....it was smaller but sweeter than BD mango.....not BD imports a lot of varieties of fruit from China....some are getting popular I've heard,

I think one of the reasons is that China knows food security is an essential part of national security. As China's vast land requires a more diligent work to grow food, scientific approach is a must. Otherwise, the fate and future of the nation's food will be in limbo all the time, relying on imports of food products and technologies.

Besides, advanced technologies allow to grow more resilient and high-yielding crops. In this, the field is dominated by a small number of Western companies. If China is not present in the field, it will be subject to the whims of monopolistic Western agri-business. This is unacceptable. That's why, unlike many other developing countries, China has never been taken hostage by imperialistic Western business such as Monsanto.

Food security is national security. Thus, it is important to not rely too much on imports from North American producers. Especially in a trade war.

Yeah mandarin oranges I think. They are good! Thin peel right? You can use the peel + tamarind to make a sauce as well that goes well with rice, yoghurt etc....(my mom got good at making it). It was something like this (substituting the orange for mandarin instead and using other ingredients to taste):

Should flick thru this thread (when you have some free time etc) to see why you are right to large degree, the evidence of actual opinions + dissonance is surfacing:

Yes, it is a form of non-traditional security along with others such as talent security, health security etc. I guess all major countries do have policies regarding ensuring an acceptable level of food security. A populous country like China will have to be twice as careful.

This is the reason why agribusiness/agri-technology is one of the 10 industries identified in China's Made in China 2025 plan.

The government actively promotes, protects and guides the development of agriculture into a modern, high-tech, and innovative industry.

For instance, China, although quite advanced in plant-genetics research, still lacks global agriculture machinery companies.

Pakistan is concerned about ummah when it comes to Indian Muslims(to antagonize India) or Palestinians(due to Arab worshipping, many would go as far as to claim that their forefathers were Arabs or Persians)....It's not like China-Uyghur issue is a new or unknown one. But they don't care as it is not convenient....I really don't like the hypocrisy of Ummah politics.

I think it's natural when China always has bigger number than other states because of its population size. For example, China's population is 6 times of Indonesia's. If Indonesia has (let's say) 5 agricultural college then China should have at least 30.
