As they say, the 13th time is a charm. India went once to the IMF in 1991 and stuck to the IMF regime. We liberalised our economy which no party previously was courageous enough to do and we never looked back.
This is your 13th visit, what makes you think that the outcome will be any different to the last 12 times.
In 91 the Soviet Union was busy tearing itself into several independent states and totally bankrupt. The assets of the soviet union were being grabbed by the Mafioso oligarchs and Russia has never recovered from that period where it lost 40% of territory and all national assets. Russia could not even help itself, let alone helping others.

They went to the IMF who prescribed strict rules and lent $2.1 billion. They followed the strictures and have a healthy growth rate and the banks are functioning normally. Iceland came out of its own nightmare, created by their own loose economic policies.

The government of Iceland jailed bankers who were at the root cause of the crisis. Had they listened to the IMF they would have handed out bailouts worth billions to the bankers and would have transferred the bankers' debts to the public. Iceland was the only country to jail the bankers responsible.

The situation in Iceland was so bad that they wanted to adopt the Canadian dollar. The Canadian government wasn't really happy to hear about it.

China is light years ahead of India now. There is no comparison here. Comparing China to India is like comparing a brand new Ferrari to a rotting corpse.

Oh please!! Take that crap somewhere else. The largest poor on the planet don't live outside India. The level of misery is unspeakable. The last I heard there was an uproar in the UK about aid money going to Indians while they were spending a similar amount on their so called space program.
