Why didn`t Russia bail out India in 1991?

Every single Indian I have come across since the age of 15 always claimed India to be the richest super power in the history of the jinn and the mankind.

Even today you will see Indians calling others beggars while India is one of the largest aid recipients in the world, not to mention extreme, crippling poverty and humiliation 'lower' castes have to face from cradle to the grave.

The Brahminist agenda has been successful since day one and I hope it continues to do so.
India doesn't get any aid.... and Uk gives 100m $ to NGO'S and Missionaries, not for the government of India, that money is used by Vatican mafia Sh its and they are being traced, their time is over....and today nobody gives a fcuk about Brahmins, previous generation Brahmins were arrogant, these days nobody cares whether he is Brahmin or not..Brahmins mingle with everybody, infact they are more alchoholic than others... and No Indian calls others Beggars unless their ego is hurted too much...

Lets hope you get IMF bailout to avoid default and avoid FATF blacklisting next September.

Topic relates to economics it is better to stay within the OP

Take that to someone who buys crap!

Eventually we bought more than 3 times to what we pegged.

You don't say!

A few Brahmins with all the money means arrogant taunting Dalits? Who would have known!! Going to IMF is not in Pakistan's interest to begin with. But our biggest concern isn't IMF, it is Modi's reelection.

Who has seen next September?

A country can invade and destroy three nations back to back, train, arm and fund 'rebellions' throughout the world, and yet goes around preaching morality.

FATF is the USA's way of putting pressure on you when all other options fail and they can't do anything against you militarily. Pakistan's priority is ending of occupation of Afghanistan. Meanwhile you can celebrate that FATF listing till cows come home.

Hoping the current Government in Pakistan can pull off same : )

As they say, the 13th time is a charm. India went once to the IMF in 1991 and stuck to the IMF regime. We liberalised our economy which no party previously was courageous enough to do and we never looked back.
This is your 13th visit, what makes you think that the outcome will be any different to the last 12 times.
In 91 the Soviet Union was busy tearing itself into several independent states and totally bankrupt. The assets of the soviet union were being grabbed by the Mafioso oligarchs and Russia has never recovered from that period where it lost 40% of territory and all national assets. Russia could not even help itself, let alone helping others.

So what you're saying is that your economic policy was flawed for all those decades? The hindu rate of growth indeed was a curse!

The USSR didn't tear itself apart in some passive way. It was actively torn apart.

The IMF is a neo-colonial tool of the powers that be. The IMF is there to ensure economic and financial hegemony of a certain group. The IMF doesn't care if Ranjeet has access to clean drinking water or a toilet.

Pakistan's biggest problem was and is corruption and mismanagement. IMF is and always has been a trap to begin with. Boasting about following IMF directives isn't something to be proud of.

Oh absolutely. A rigid inflexible economy held to ransom by different vote banks that had to be appeased at every election cycle, cancelling any movement in the sclerotic arteries of the economy. It was stuck in a vague socialist ideology which lacked the will and determination to be truly socialist or champion free enterprise. Neither fish nor fowl.

The point is it tore itself apart under the weight of the cold war, certainty the west hastened and abetted this fracture, but it was the Soviet Unions choice to maintain a communist economy which collapsed the entire Union.

The IMF is a mechanism set up as a lender of last resort. Countries go to the IMF because no one else can fix the accumulated economic quagmire. When no one offers any means to sort out the structural problems. Those that abide by the strictures of the IMF reap very long term rewards. Those that wriggle and be duplicitous with the prescriptions end up in a endless cycle of going to the IMF. Like Pakistan.
India came out with a economy that had done the structural correction, as did Ireland, Jordan, Tanzania, Iceland. Their economies have moved from strength to strength because they stuck to the unpalatable IMF prescriptions. You waste this opportunity or stick to the prescriptions and come out of the dark tunnel.

The last I heard Iceland wanted to adopt the Canadian dollar. Jordan is USA's vessal state.

How is a massive population living in poverty conditions worse than the sub Saharan Africa a proof of structural correction? I fail to see the point. A few Brahmins making a few billions more isn't reform.

You may continue to believe that the IMF, the WB etc have your best interests in their mind.

Every bank in iceland had to close as they had run out of money
Manay of the banks had to nationalised.Others declared bankruptcy. $62 billion in foreign debt with a population of 580,000 and a gdp of $14 billion. They went to the IMF who prescribed strict rules and lent $2.1 billion. They followed the strictures and have a healthy growth rate and the banks are functioning normally. Iceland came out of its own nightmare, created by their own loose economic policies.

Errr no. The currency is the Icelandic Krona

China too, not that long ago had comparable poverty rates to India and sub Saharan Africa. In fact they killed over 60 million from HUNGER because of Mao's communist command economy.
It was Deng who pulled China out of a terminal death by offering free enterprise and vast lands and cheap labour to western companies. Deng of course spend years in jail having been purged by Mao twice. His son was tortured by Mao's gang and spend many years in jail. He had to jump out of a window while being tortured that left him a paraplegic.
Today many of the generals and party's leadership are billionaires and hiding their money in US UK Australia etc where their children are sent

A very stupid question in 91 russia broke out from soviet union to russia die to political afghan war cash strapped crises

+

Whoever pulled India out of the extreme crisis, was surprised when I read it on Wikipedia, deserves a lot of credit.
For that you need a statesman like PV Narshimha Rao and silent professional like MMS. Hope you get such leadership... All the best...

Hoping the current Government in Pakistan can pull off same : )

Bcz India was never a begger.
And if you talk about Russia,
Russia was not in the condition to help anybody that time, neither India hoped anything from Russia. Our relationship with Russia is based on Interest, its not like deeper than ocean and higher than mountain friendship.

Every country takes loans, even USA/RUSSIA/China takes loans to run their economy and India is no exception but your economy is in better shape to return your loans @The BrOkEn HeArT :p::p:enjoy:

China was facing the same trouble when it first started to build up the country in the 1980's-1990's, the coffer was empty and the government went to the extreme and mandatorily took 20% off of everyone's salary to buy the national debt, that measure caused wide spread resentment from the general public.

China toughed it out, and I will say 10 years from now, Pakistanis will thank what's happening now, many times development means pain first, but without some pain, you can be forever happy with what you have currently and never desire to move forward.
