Why China didn't intervene in 1971 war?

Lets be realistic ! Pakistani top military leadership of that time was too low on moral grounds and couldn't make wise decisions and it reflected in our foreign policy as well . Pakistan , this is why, could not bring its (1)most sincere friend China to its backing during 1971 aggression by its arch enemy India . India on the other hand , under (2)cunning and foxy leadership of Indira Gandhi was able to use Soviet Union as well as United States for its advantage and dismember Pakistan. Whenever (3) Pakistan is led by a morally sound leadership we have been able to beat our enemies but have lost whenever we are led by the opposite types !

1. no, china isn't a sincere friend in 1971.. lot's of string attached by that time... USSR, US....
2. what do you call Mushy in kargil war???
3. when was that???

.
China and Pakistan were not very close back then.

The pro-American Ayub Khan famously offered to form a joint-defense with India, AGAINST China during the 1959-1962 clashes.

I always say this was the biggest missed opportunity for Pakistan. If they had accepted our offer during 1962, they could have taken Kashmir from an already defeated India.

Pakistan helped India, and in return, India repaid them with cruelty.

I agree with you, for the first decade of creation both of our countries, there were some misunderstandings, cuz of Pakistan's alliance in CENTO and SEATO, but with the signing of boundary agreement in 1963, the ties were cemented, infact 1962 Indo-China war, was the turning point, it added impetus to the ongoing boundary negotiations and since then Pak-China relationship trajectory was always upward sloping, without Chinese help, Pakistan militarily would not have been as strong as it is now, hopefully through China's One Belt One Road initiative and CPEC , this Euroasian region will be interlinked, though there are spoilers like India who will, at the behest of western powers, try to impede these ambitious initiatives !!!

Yes there was actually arms embargo due to their belligerece in 1965 inspired by the Chinese success couple of years back, when they wanted to pounce on Indian administered Kashmir just like China successfully did. They thought India is war torn and it's their bright chance to wrest Kashmir away.

I was indirectly just forcing him to mention the reason and actual date of embargo.

Actually, the embargo was on both countries during '65; but you are right in the sense that since Pakistan relied on American arms so in effect it was an embargo on Pakistan only. I found a good resource on the subject : "Pakistan Army: Modernisation, Arms Procurement and Capacity Building" by Dr. Shah Alam. If interested kindly Google it.

Why China didn't intervene in 1971 war?

I think you need to read up on history.

The reason why the Chinese did not intervene, is simply because they couldn't afford to. Chinese Intelligence was convinced the Soviets would attack, the PLA and Soviet 58th Army were staring at each other eyeball to eyeball in 1971.

The Soviet 58th Army was by far the most well equipped and well trained within the Soviet Army. Some historians would probably argue, the most lethal and best equipped in the world at the time. The Soviets deployed about 450 000 troops, 300 nukes and more than 4500 aircrafts to smash the PLA. PLA had retreated 100 km back just to avoid Soviet Encirclements. The Soviet threat was real, Soviet deployments were real and Soviet war games on the border was only something the PLA could even dream of matching.

This is why the Chinese could not afford to send its precious troops to rescue Pakistan. The Soviet 58th Army was a far more scary foe than the likes of the Indian Army.

It's part of the past, what matters most is the current friendship between Pakistan and China. :pakistan::china:

That is just the half of it. The Embargo of 1965 was imposed because the USA had provided arms to Pakistan only to be used against any Soviet Invasion as an ally under CENTO and SEATO. They were not meant to be used to settle any regional scores.
In 1971, the Embargo was imposed for a different reason: US Congress considered that the Junta in Pakistan had let loose a Reign of Terror in East Bengal under 'Operation Searchlight'. That was even described as genocide by the then US Consul General in Dhaka; Archer Blood in his wired reports (the so-called "Blood Telegrams"). But President Dick Nixon wanted the re-supply of Munitions to be kept up, bypassing Congress. So he resorted to the subterfuge of getting Jordan, Morocco, Iran to transfer Aircraft and Ammunition to Pakistan. That is how RJAF F-104s and Iranian F-86s and other material reached Pakistan in spite of the Embargo.

An interesting aside; the USSR had offered arms to Pakistan in1969, including the Missile Boats that the IN used to hit Karachi in 1971. But Pakistan turned that offer down......

Uncle actually 93000 surrendered and out of them 68000 belonged either to army or paramilitary.

First debunk the claims of support you got. I asked for source of your country being sanctioned, is it hard to furnish or you are bluffing ?? And next time you quote me fetch me the source for that.

We were well armed and you were not armed , is it our fault ??

Which facts are you talking about uncle ?? Highlight that. I can back my every claim with source.
34,000 were army... 12-15,000 were paramilitary ... Total army deployment during the civil war and indian invasion ... Now count PAK casualities from March to 1971..

Rest were police, civilian officials, govt officials, clerks and even women and children...

Any non-pakistani source stating so would add to my knowledge. Thank you !!

Next time when you quote me don't loose your bearings , at least try to act civil.

So you have no credible source ?? Your argument is dismissed.

15+ ?? Even if so then that included Mukti Bahni in significant numbers hence ambiguous , so we can't arrive on that number by that method.

Actually Nixon arranged fighters and other support illegaly for pakistan threw third parties as per NSA archives.

Unless your army included Mukti bhanis? I have official deployment papers .. Hamoodur Rahman commission report .. Your own generals interview... 2 well researched book by Foriegn authors with actual data collected through research...
