There is no such thing as neo rajakars.

An united Pakistan would have its advantage today for the subcontinent.

Equally the birth of Bangladesh presents its opportunity and challenges.

There was exploitation by the west, there was no doubt about it. But the moment you talk about it you create a division. The whole theory of the defence of the east lays in the west was absurd. The east was the "weakness" of Pakistan from a strategic perspective.... territory of the east was sacrificed for the west in the partition negotiation.

Anyhow this is past. Bangladesh is a reality. Out of adversity and colonialism the Muslim of Bangladesh has curved out a homogeneous and unified nation. We are a massive and an industrious nation and each day we are progressing even with all the challenges.

I have faith in Bangladesh that was forged with centuries of struggle and blood of our ancestors. We have equal claim to the legacy of the freedom struggles of India and Pakistan. To all Bangladeshis I would urge to view our history without the prism of 1971 it's too narrow. Our peoples history is long.

Our history is preislamic, then we were part of the Delhi sultanate, then independent Muslim nation, then part of the moghul empire. We fought the British and created Pakistan and then decided to stand alone as Bangladesh. Be proud of our history. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are symantics as are the artificial religious divisions. We are the fabric of the subcontinent. To posture negatively against India or Pakistan we posture against ourselves and dishonour our own history and forefathers.

There are no neo rajakars.... just people who see history starting in 1947. Our history is much longer, we stand on shoulders of giants, we should acknowledge all strands of of our identity and all these strands makes us Bangladeshi. Moment you see Bangladesh as merely starting in 1971 we disavow our history and we become a people without a past and allow others to disenfranchise us and claim the struggles and achievements of our people.

How much you were aware before about the contents of OP in the past? I don't know whether this article was posted in PDF long time ago.Even if posted most of us who have joined this forum in last several years have no idea.So you can consider this topic a new one.Most of the discussion in PDF revolve around 1971 war and argument about the extent of atrocity,not the socio-economic factors that driven towards the war.

I have been saying this all along.

Now that BD is independent, it is enjoying GDP growth rates of over 7% a year. If it's GDP/ capita
has not yet passed Pakistan, it will before end of the decade.
This would never have been possible if BD was still transferring it's wealth to Pakistan.

That's not how it works honey but there is no point in constantly explaining it to a people who are incapable of understanding.

Anyway, since Bangladesh is apparently a 'prosperous, thriving and an industrial powerhouse' as your members make it out to be in this thread; could you please take back your 5m+ strong Bengali immigrant and 2m illegal Bengali immigrant communities (in Karachi alone) back to Utopiadesh?

Bengali women make up almost all of the prostitutes of Karachi. Heck even Bengali men sell themselves to certain Afghan clients who are interested. They are representing their nationality and country the true 'Bengali way' just in the case of Hasina towards Modi/India

• A sizable net transfer of resources had taken place from East to West Pakistan. The report states that, if allowance is made for the undervaluation of foreign exchange in terms of Pakistan’s domestic currency, the total transfer from East to West Pakistan over the period 1948/49-1968/69 was Rs 31,000,000,000 [1971 terms]. Using the then exchange rate of Rs 11.90 to the dollar, this worked out to 2.6 thousand million dollars in 1971 terms.

Some Consequences

• In 1948 there were 11 textile mills in the East and only 9 in the West.
• In 1971 there were 26 in the East as opposed to 150 in the West.
• East Pakistan’s economy transformed from a surplus one to a deficit one.

Am I so Ashamed of my Independence that I need to read 46 year old Explanation for it ?

Do not please assume that BD people were that naive to struggle and fight for separation without valid reasons. Every action needs explanation. !971 was not a one-day decision. It took many years of exploitation that initiated dissatisfaction of the people in this side of then Pakistan. The article is a well-thought out and well-written piece of paper based on real figures of exploitation and neglect.

However, this small account could not spell out all the points. You do not have to assume shame for what happened in the past of which you may not have been a part. Although written many times over the last few decades, I appreciate that @Doyalbaba posted the account for new generation to know about what really happened during all those years before the 1971 war started.
