It's so damn hilarious. Shaan, Reema, even Jibran Nasir among many others do takay k celebrities called it a threat to local culture.

First off, this is a reality check for these people that they are out of touch with Pakistani people feelings and emotions for so long. They feel threatened that more Turkish dramas could come and they would be out of whatever little viewership they have. Instead of whining like losers, why not learn and improve yourselves? Nay, these filthy people had the idea that people only watch dirty stuff and not Islamic so they never made anything like this despite being in Islamic Republic. They also can't act and there's a lot of overacting.

Secondly for threat to culture and identity what culture? What identity? Our culture has so much Hindu crap added into it, and we don't have an identity. We have been here just now.

But look at these celebrities show their inner filth. Hindu dramas have been shown in Pakistan for decades and they have corrupted our society, our kids, our language. Yet they didn't feel any threat. A TV show glorifying Islam is shown here and they're on fire? I wonder how much they care for Islam. So what, if we catch some good Turkish culture, good Islamic values? No, that's wrong but corrupting ourselves with our enemy's bad culture is okay.

Besides, as a Muslim, culture is the last thing on anyone's mind. This show is making home in our hearts because of what is shown. The Turkish culture isn't different from ours anyway.

Lastly, i hate culture bullcrap. The Ottomans were Turk, are you going to reject Ottoman empire because your culture is different? What about Mamluks who saved Islamic world? What about Arabs? Are you going to reject Islam because it came to Arabs like the Jews did? What about Imam Mehdi, he will be from Arabs.

Culture/Racism is what made many Qurayshi people not accept Islam and so much fitna was created. These people are sending us back to those days of jahiliya but what do they know? They engage in fahashi all day, you don't learn Islam from that.

This essentially has nothing to do with Ertugrul. Any other Turkish play with a potential to hit ratings in Pakistan would have triggered the same attitude. Turkish plays come at a cheaper cost compared to local production and return a good revenue. This was previously the case with the Indian plays as well. Naturally, this goes in favour of the channels but not the producers, directors and actors. It puts them out of work. As Covid-19 further impedes drama production ready-made product is even more threatening

Also, this has nothing to do with Islam. We need to distinguish between Islamic history and Muslim history. Besides, Ertugrul is a very small part of the Muslim history of Anatolia. Ottoman chroniclers and officials have possibly only mentioned him in oneliners and that too only handful of times. Caroline Finkle, a noted Ottoman historian, only found his mention two times. First on a coin minted by his son Osman, which only states "Osman, son of Ertugrul" and second on a document mentioning that Seljuk Sultan awarded Ertugrul land in Anatolia. The document is, however, believed to be a forgery by Ottoman officials for propaganda purpose.

I don't think they, the entertainment industry dislike this drama because it's turkish or has a Islamic albeit Sufi theme running through it. It simply because they feel threatened by quality content and they have done this before with other turkish dramas which were very popular and said if they aren't banned we are simply going to be left to dubb them in urdu.

. . .
Looks like a secular liberal is so threatened he has to reinvent history from "Caroline Finkle", the great Ottoman of course. One only has to go on FB to see endless history translated by our Turkish brothers and sisters about Ertugrul and even of his companions. But that won't stop our Macauley's child here - brainwashed to hate your own and look up to the gora is what they are mainly good at.

The show is not even Turkish culture. It is Islamic culture. If you go back Muslims at that time are of different cultures but have almost same dress and way of life. The era is very old like 1100s or like that.
Besides taking things from Hollywood and bollywood why not take inspiration from a very beautiful culture which is in turn very close to ours.
These people fail to differ between Islam culture and our own culture. Islam doesnt forbid us from practicing out culture. Only leave those things that are contrary to Islam. And then there is Islamic culture that is almost same in all Muslim countries. That why not on government level but local Muslims do feel the kind of kinship among themselves as Christians don't.

Pakistani story lines are pathetic.
Ertugul is a bit like Robin hood..adventure but what I have learnt from it is that this is a program the whole family can enjoy and at every step there is a dua. So ask allah for help at every step.

Primarily because these "Celebrities" and everyone they know of for generations have grown up dancing to the tunes of Bollywood be it in wedding ceremonies, social-events or times of great despair/excitement. For 20 something years they've molded Pakistan's electronic media, its advertisements, film and tv to the Bollywood standards: "Selling milk? Let's make an "Item Song" - Selling tea? We can create a better tune than bollywood! "

Of course all this effort to divide the lines of culture and tradition among our people seems of no use today because of course the "New" Standard Pakistani awaam has chosen is a tough act to follow. They're just scared to change the status-quo because creating content with substance and class is not exactly their forte.

Okay Pakistanis please answer me...Why didnot Magnificent Century and Magnificent Century:Kösem reach this level of popularity?

I love how Pakistanis keep taking potshots at Indian content even while talking about their own content or third country's content.

Kaheen mauka mat chor dena.

Which means the bollywood blueprint of the Pakistani media and entertainment since the 1970s is now starting to die out. Which is why traditional Pakistani cultural media and Turkish media is becoming more popular in Pakistan.

Technically most of them successful productions as a TV series, but the most important fact that distinguishes Ertuğrul series from others is that it tries to explain something about Islam's morality and struggle.

Others were mostly concerned with the intrigue of the palace during the imperial times of the Ottoman Empire. While doing this, the theses of orientalist western historians were used instead of the Ottoman archives.

As you guess, Turkey also has different approaches for understanding Ottoman history, especially between 15-19 centuries. (Political approaches) These different approaches are therefore being reflected in the method depicted in these sequences.

I do not have information about Pakistan, but if we talk about successes of these series in Turkey; The productions you mentioned did not even come close to Ertuğrul here, and many series were left unfinished. Latest example of this, "Mehmed: A World Conqueror" was published with a great cast and a big budget, but could survive only 5 or 6 episodes.

Pakistani media is second only to Indian media in it's complete and utter crapness. Anything of quality that takes PK eyeballs away from the dire shite that is PK cinema, dramas, News, documentaries will trigger these media wallahs - they have to protect their revenue stream.

Highly appreciated so Magnificent Century and Magnificent Century:Kösem reflected secular morality, sex with endless concubines and cold hearted palace power struggles, while Ertugrul captures the pure spirit of Islam...
