Promoting K2 is nice, but it has to be part of a complete revamp of our image.

Many countries in Latin America failed to achieve this to one degree or another, and therefore aren’t as prosperous.

If you look towards the West like USA, France, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain,

and when you look at the Far East countries like China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore why are we are behind in science and technology?

How many undergraduates, associate degrees, master degrees, and college diplomas graduates do Muslim majority countries produce?

To bridge the gap, we need to learn industrialization, how to improve governance, how to improve the economy, manufacturing techniques, improve standard of living,

Simple answer is no rule of law in all those countries and in matter of time they become banana republics. People start in fighting's and start pulling each other legs and time moves and then they left behind. Pakistan and Nigeria situation is in front of you and you don't have to look in the history books as only history is repeating itself. Producing graduates is one thing other thing then you need is a strong leader who can put those graduates to a good use.
Nations which showed balls and got rid of leeches in the history they always progressed, look at the French, Iranians and countless other countries.
If Pakistan have to move forward, nation have to show balls even country end up into civil war hang publicly all these 4 stars supa salars so they never ever steal our youth future again. Minimum requirements for the politicians must be a graduate degree from a recognised university and import some judges and magistrates from abroad for few years so country can be put at the right path.

Could be many reasons:

- The cleric may adress societal/political grivances and gain followers

- The followers lacks education in Islam. Forexample memorized Quran in Arabic, but not in their local tongue.

- The Cleric and followers may lack formal education in tafsir; Holistic interpretation of Quran and Hadiths. So verses and hadith are take out of context.

- The cleric and his followers may simply be ignorants and lack softness in their hearts, which lead to harsh and extreme interpretation of Quran and hadiths.
