NOT at all that concept was in the old time and the concept was if Muslims conquer an area and rule it then non-Muslim person can avail protection by paying tax simple system. Nothing about cast system which prevails among Hindus.

This is true not just for Dalit muslims, it exists in Dalit Christians. Dalits escape to Islam and Christianity from caste system only to find that it is even worse in them.

Why go to Dalits. One of my close friends cousin sisters family is a Christian convert. She wanted to marry some one from the same caste who converted.

And it includes all religions Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

Castism is Hindu concept. Those living in India are highly influenced by this Hindu practice be them Muslims.

Dhimmi system was hundreds of years ago; an era in which slavery and religious massacres was common in Europe.
The Dhimmi system was seen as a light within darkness compared to other systems during its time.

Even so, the Dhimmi system is long gone and had nothing to do with Islam; but infact was a choice of the Ottoman government. Caste system is still active.

2nd class citizen, only protected because they pay a tax. Officially practiced during the Caliphates, now it's unofficial. However, subconsciously there is still a social stigma against non-Muslims in Islamic majority countries, they are then unofficially second class citizens.

There is a Caste system practiced globally in one form or another. Jews and Gentiles, Christians and Pagans, Muslim and non-Muslim, Hindu and Dalit, millionaire and poor, Politician and citizen, skin color/ethnicity.

We are discussing about discrimination via untouchability. Now its not about society its about ppl. Untouchability is just one of the way of indulging in discrimination and its easier to practice it by putting the blame on society. Even muslim religion might say all are equal but in practice arab look down upon non arabs or even worse they themselves discriminate among each other. Its just who holds the power. Now if this discriminated ppl get power or in exalted position its not that they will be act in non-discriminatory manner they too will find some other way to discriminate.

bottom line : it all depends on how useful or powerful ppl are and what their intentions are . Rest of it are just excuses.

While Islam eliminates untouchability and racial discrimination, it is sad that such practices still continue in some form or the other. Untouchability was specific to Hindu civilization which has been made a criminal offence in India now. There is a spill over effect among Indian muslims which was somewhat noticeable in my childhood but extinct now. But this untouchability was not practiced by muslims but by caste hindus on a section of muslims perhaps they were converts from the untouchable communities.

Have to disagree with you on this, there may be 101 faults with Muslims but the caste discrimination is certainly not one of them, since it seems to be only prevalent in Indian Muslim community hence it can only be attributed to the effect and influence of Indian society as whole.
