Who Will Win Asia's Fifth-Generation Fighter Race?

Even X-2 doesn't aim to compete the race with J-20, because Japan will get F-35A soon, X-2 still could lead J-20 development by its domestic thrust vectoring engines .

.
This domestic would fly over Japan before purchased F-35 delivered

2023-24 is way too early. It has to be 2050 if ever they could make an aircraft by then which works.
We can't partcipae in this race but
For the survival in feuture and for national interests of Pakistan we need to invest in R&D.

Ours may come late but it shall be a master piece like tejas and LCH. We have learned a lot from Tejas and we are going to apply that all in AMCA. Design is now been fairly refined. If we manage project well, we can get it fast.

It is just a tech demonstrator. Far from even a 5th gen fighter.

Russian media reported in recent weeks two new developments concerning the PAK-FA, or the Future Aviation System–Frontal Aviation. In addition to the news of the sixth T-50 prototype taking to the air, and five additional ones being in advanced stages of construction, the Russian media reported that the T-50 would enter service with the Russian Aerospace Forces already in 2017, in other words, in a little more than a year. The aircraft’s series production would commence the same year.
