'Who will take us?': Myanmar's fleeing Rohingya Muslims
Forced out of their home country, Rohingya Muslims share their experiences of crossing to Bangladesh.

Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh - Rohingya Muslims as old as 105 are pouring into Bangladesh in the hope of finding peace and some semblance of a future, as the Myanmar army and allied mobs lay waste to their homes and villages in the western region of Rakhine.

In lines stretching deep into the horizon, tens of thousands of Rohingya Muslims - 80 percent of whom are women and children - have crossed into southeast Bangladesh after making the long and arduous trek from the impoverished region of Rakhine state.

"It was the hardest thing I've ever done," said Tahera Begum, 22, who gave birth to her second child in a forest on the way to the border.

Relaying accounts of massacres at the hands of Myanmar security forces and Buddhist vigilantes that started on August 25, the sick, wounded and elderly have received a cold and hostile reception by their closest neighbour.

"Who will take us?" Halima desperately asked after recalling how she was beaten by a mob in front of her children while fleeing to the border.

The Rohingya, an ethnic Muslim group who have lived in Myanmar's Rakhine State for centuries, have suffered decades of repression under the country's Buddhist majority.

Stripped of their citizenship by the military junta in the 1980s, they have endured killings, torture and mass rape, according to the United Nations.

So far, at least 270,000 Rohingya have fled since August 25, bringing the total number who have sought refuge in Bangladesh since October 2016 to more than 450,000.
Myanmar: The perilous journey of Rohingya refugees
Recent upsurge in violence has forced about 270,000 Rohingya to cross into Bangladesh, according to UN estimates.

Nope we have BSF to keep you out and kill you as needed when you try anyway.

West Bengal is for Indian Bengalis only.

All other Bengalis can have their Bangladesh - its in the name.

Now suck it up and deal with it.

SHW being cruel and heartless to Rohingya but BD forced to take them in anyway is the best thing thats happened regionally this year. This is the flavour of BD that should always be the dominant one (SHW)....because BD increases its internal polarisation and opens itself up more for long term destruction through sheer autocracy. It will likely time well with enhanced BSF policy and saffronisation of Indian border politics.

Praise SHW, may her rule continue as long as possible. Then replace with another SHW character after it and continue eternally. We have big plans for you lot :)

How can you tell the difference between Indian Bengali and BD'shi anyway?
Also, would you mind taking back your estimated
1.5 million illegal Indians in BD?

Intelligence, language, culture (and all their associated heritage) and many other markers set them apart most of the time. West Bengalis easily can make out which arrivals in their state are from Bangladesh (and thus are illegal) after all. They and many other Indians do tolerate this to large degree....but that is changing big time now and you will get the realised action on this over time. In any case, BSF is federally controlled and the federal policy is to prevent further illegal immigration/transit from BD. Rohingya that enter BD and get hosted there get put into that category. They are solely your problem and issue to deal with.

When it gets quoted in a UN study/paper/analysis (like has been the case with BD illegals in India), we will take notice.

Till then it get's filed in BBS claim department under "No one gives a F..k" ministry office.

Actually don't wait for UN, get your own govt first to officially declare this number/estimate....rather than quoting "sources" quoting other "sources" in BD 4th rate blogs and other media that no one outside BD reads in first place.

a decade ago there was a DOCUMENTRY on British television, Channel 4 of how Bangladeshi farmers have been shot dead by Indian BSF for crossing the fields whilst farming. Number of victims run into the hundreds. Also if Bangladesh is not a hostile nation to India why does india feel compelled to fence the entire border with BD with a shoot to kill policy in place?

As they are Bengali speaking, the Independent Super power of Bangladesh should take them. Infact take them all.
I think you guys should show a littl compassion to your ally Bangladesh. The country is going through a difficult period and could benefit tramendously from support and assistance from its regional ally, Hindustan. Just as how South Asia pulled together to help Nepal during its devastating earthquake.

You are one stupid,retarded dude!

There is no genetic difference between W Bengalis and BD'shis. There was also massive cross-border migration during 1947 where Muslims mgrated from West Bengal to BD and Hindus from BD to West Bengal.

With BD's much stronger economy, any migration is more likely to be from West bengal to BD, rather than the other way round!

The Daily Star

Mohammed Alam’s grandmother became a citizen of Myanmar in 1952 under the Union Citizenship Act of Myanmar.
From then on, her next generation enjoyed citizenship rights. But now, these legal citizens of Myanmar also flee their homeland in the wake of the violence in Rakhine State.

Everybody right now is extremely wary of taking Muslim refugees which is a sad fact.
Some blame goes to recent conrovesies that came with Syrian refugees...who for some reasons are taking precedence over rohingya refugees especially in developed countries.

So Burma is not our ally? See. India has been taking refugees since ages. India had 10 million Bengalis during 1971 war cos we were an independent country. You should see Bangalis speaking here as if India is dirt cheap and they are some high beings above us. Full of arrogance and Jamaati type hating Hindus. And they claim that they are sole representatives of bengali ethnicity and language as they are an independent nation. Now is the time to claim their heritage. If they had a little humility they wont be talking here like this.

There is a reason why we dont want the Rohingyas. Already refugees are getting radicalised and involved in terrorist organisation. In India its easy to "get lost" or get mingled. We dont want to face one more security threat. We will negotiate separately with Myanmar to send them back when peace arrives. Probably in a year or 2
