Who is the real king of the Jungle?

Tiger is more powerful, but lion is the King of the jungle.

If strength is the only reason to select a King, then we must select elephant or hippo as the king.

we have to consider the character of both animals, to see which one fits more to a King.

Tiger:

  • A hunter, hunts and kill animals even if it is not hungry.
  • Does not develop a family bond, doesn't raise its own cubs. It is the character of a muscular biker, who stops at a bar, finds a girl, do the necessary and here he goes, never to comeback again.
  • Powerful, but Kings do not necessarily have to be powerful. Don't we think that kings used to have warriors in their army who were much more powerful than kings themselves.

Lion

  • Family man! protects its females from the intruders
  • Loves its cubs
  • define the parameters of its kingdom
  • Oonly hunts when hungry

Beautifully put.

P.S. I am a muscular biker too. I really liked this analogy!

My life has been half tiger, half lion.

Cheers, Doc

Tiger is Russia, works effectively by himself.

Lion is NATO, only does good in a group.

:P

Bro nice joking, but PLEASE!

NATO attacks in force.

When ghuspetiya young lions come into the territory to take over the pride, the lion fights one, two, three whatever ON HIS OWN!!!!!

The lion is bred for only 4 things in life.

To eat.

To sleep.

To puk.

And to fight.

That is ALL he does lifelong.

He is the ULTIMATE FIGHTER.

Yes but the tiger is still significantly bigger and unlike the lion hunts by himself. It takes several lions to take down a buffalo, where as it only takes a single tiger.

Tigers fight each other, as well as other big cats such as leopards and even bears. They chase elephants for goodness sake!

Buddy, a leopard in front of a tiger or a lion is hardly a big cat.

Lions rarely if ever hunt. Lionesses do.

The only bear in the habitat of lions and tigers are black and sloth bears. No match. Till you reach grizzly or polar bear levels.

Even an Alaskan brown bear would be mincemeat.

Depends on where the jungles are. In Sundarbans and Urals tigers dominate.

In Gujarat and Africa lions do.

They never rally fought each other in the nature due to non contact.

Good one :enjoy:.

Although Lions are a beautiful and powerful Big Cat. Tiger no doubt is far more powerful, intelligent and bigger in size as well. A no-brainer recipe for a true winner. At least my Great Grandfather thought so from his first hand experiences with big cats.

My Great Grandfather from my mother's side used to hunt big cats mostly lions and leopards (and even a tiger on one of his expeditions) in India. This was before partition when he migrated to Pakistan.

He was not a professional hunter but was a estate manager in service of the Raja of the state. If I do remember correctly, he was resident in Bilaspur at the time, a great gentleman by the name of S M Ishaq.

Anyway, he was an excellent marksman and one of his duties was to kill big cats whenever one turned into a man eater or a nuisance to the local populous and sometimes, to accompany visiting dignitaries on hunting trips. I have an old photo album stashed away somewhere back home with his photos of the hunts.

Once, he saved the life of a visiting English dignitary by the name of Dubias who was a friend of the Raja, invited on a hunt.

My Great Grandfather saved the Englishman from the lion who had slapped him down and off from his MACHAN. He saved him by firing at the lion to divert its attention towards himself and subsequently putting a bullet in the lions mouth at point blank but not before the lion managed to life-threateningly injure the both of them and they barely survived the hunt with their lives.

The scene in the movie "the Ghost and the darkness" where Val Kilmar kills the lion at point blank will give you an idea of the situation I'm talking about, just that what I am narrating was far more brutal, the lion first charged him and despite a shot that hit the lions shoulder, the beast pounced on him and chewed on my Great Grandfathers left forearm and then grabbed at his legs and he then shot the lion with his gun in the other good arm as the beast thrashed and chewed on his leg and then for some reason paused and looked him straight in the eyes.

This event was published in LIFE magazine as an article at the time. I have a clipping of it somewhere back home too.

Anyway, the point he often made in his recollections was that in his experience, the Tiger was a far more dangerous killer than a Lion simply because it was a much more powerful beast. Even more powerful than the coined King of the jungle by the English.

That part about the bears is a joke right? The brown bears which tigers face are literally huge, and would take out a lion by themselves. The fact that tigers kill them is pretty impressive.

I'm willing to bet even a sloth bear would hold its own fairly well against a lion (it would still eventually lose though).

Bro, maybe my wildlife IQ needs polishing, but can you tell me in which country of the world tigers (and lions) face off against brown bears in their natural habitat?

Are we talking strictly about jungles or the wild?

African lions are larger than their Asiatic cousins and they usually tend to live in grasslands rather than the jungle. So the true king of the jungle is the tiger.

But this does not change the saying in Urdu since we don't have different words for tigers and lions ...lol

Wrong
In India ; Tigers drove away the lions to GIR forest only

Earlier Lions were present throughout India
but growing competition between the two led to the decimations of Lions

Lions live in Gir forest ; NOT out of choice but because of compulsion

We have 50 TIGER Reserves in India but only ONE Lion Habitat or reserve

My life has been half tiger, half lion.

The hybrid of Lion and Tiger is known as Liger and is STERILE

I can assure you then the the metaphoric human form is very procreatively different.

Triply so being Parsi. And child marriage thrown in (just 25 ...)

. .
Good to know that ;But many Parsi men are literally Ligers these days
ie stay single / unmarried leading to a decline in Parsi population

A lot of that is by choice. Though I really haven't seen a study proving them to be unable to impregnate a suitable woman.

Within or out of wedlock.

More than a third of Parsis marry non-Parsis.
and one in five Parsi men never marry
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are alarming statistics with regard to ‘no marriage’ status. One out of every five Parsi Indian males and one out of 10 Indian Parsi females are unmarried by over 50 years of age.

at this rate ; Parsis would become a mixed community very soon

They will never become mixed.

You will have Parsi DNA floating around. In pockets around the world.

Much like Genghis Khan in central America.

Long after the pure blood community has died.
