1) banking system is not usury all the time
2) education in own language cuts us off from majority of the advancements in the world (research papers in english)

other than that, I think most secular countries have some sort of control over alcohol/casino/speculation by taxing the **** out of it (Ever tried to buy a pack of cigs/alcohol in massachussts vs New Hamspire? costs half in NH - cos of no taxes).

islamic sharia - stoning of people for minor offences, cutting off their hands is a problem
social welfare for dogs and cats - agree but wheres the money? theres not much social welfare for people in most countries

we should rather concentrate on all countries to make life better for ALL citizens. muslim or not is between the creator and the person.

advances in the west range from space, medicine, communication (facebook, twitter, google, MS, internet),entertainment, research, even research on history - I can say with confidence there is more research on the history of most places on earth than the original locations. for that - it does not have to be a good "muslim country", it just needs to be a "good country".
