Who Invented the first ever Torpedo ?

.
The issue is not so much whether the inventors themselves were practising muslims.

The lesson we should take from this period of history is not to lose ourselves in backward-looking escapism, but to realize that scientific discovery and technological excellence are not incompatible with muslim civilization. It happened before and there is no reason why it should not happen again.

In other words, Islam does not forbid scientific knowledge. (psst, somebody tell the mullahs.)

Muslims have never minded next gen useful technology. But i have severe doubts that muslims would have allowed 'heretic' science like evolution and cosmology which at many stages refuted literal scripture.

Todays Iranian regime is investing into technology because it has clear benefits. But abdus salam couldn't get a single oil rich country to invest into basic science.

Lets face it, science simply buries religion with each passing day. things like disease, eclipses, creation and evolution of life forms, flight of birds ..... which were attributed to direct intervention of god have been found to have completely different causes. even things like human death will be completely understood at the scientific level one day.

In summary, muslim regimes will tolerate and encourage technology. But basic science is something they'd rather pick and choose to their religious belief and free ride from outside.

Because that hanuman has not been serving well on basic maths doesnt mean you have nothing positive to day.

hehehe, you got the history wrong there. a lot of what is known as islamic math actually came from india.

the kerala school of math developed a fair bit of the calculus theory too by the 15th century and there is active debate if by chance these developments could've gone to europe through the sea route. there is no evidence of this transfer of knowledge yet.

anyway, all that math is pretty basic compared to what the europeans did.

I wonder for how long we are going to live a past glory (which is always debatable). If we were so very capable then why we are not doing something out of the world now? Why ever since there is a proper record of events we are lagging. About things 100 plus years back there is nothing substantial to prove who did it and if they ever happened.

There is always substantial evidence for people with common sense and with a considerable amount of Understanding and a proper mindset backed by well done grooming.

Asim......is this what you have learnt dude...."Science was magic before the Muslim empires put it into practical use".

your teacher ( under Zia's regime spoon fed these fallacies we know) may have taught you these, but dude, you have access to intrenet...USE IT.:coffee:
Dude, stop talking like a jackass and re-read the meat of what I said. I never implied that science didn't exist, many Muslim enhancements were scientific and adaptations of previously existing knowledge. However as said before, science predating the Renaissance Era was by in large considered witchcraft or heresy by the west.

Mechanical automations as employed by Muslim empires was often considered as witchcraft. The pre-renaissance Christianity leaned towards butchering all knowledge held collected by Pagan Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. It wasn't until the Muslims demonstrated them as scientific findings, nothing to do with witchcraft or going against the divinity of God, that allowed that knowledge to creep back into the western world.

I happened to see a documentary on golden age of islam, and did a bit of research of that period on net .Many attributes of modern life we enjoy today have their origin in times of caliphs. It is amazing to know almost a thousand year ago they had universities which granted bachelors and masters degree just as they do today, there were libraries where one could borrow books, banks where one could deposit money on baghdad and withdraw from spain, not only hospitals and ambulances but also medical insurance firms!!What made them so advanced than rest of the world then?I think it was the liberal society they had which didn't persecute free thinkers but instead encouraged it.There were many poets/scientists who were liberals and even atheists during that times, they were respected for their contributions rather than persecuted for their beliefs.

Technology advancements were the outcome of true & dedicated Muslim administration!!

I mean that if you are a responsible administrator then you will solely be responsible for the hygiene, health, food........of the ruled one & science comes in this scenario as your savior.
For instance you are hit by a drought you definitely will invent collection techniques; you are hit by pandemic disease you will create medications; your population is growing up so is your understanding of cultivation.............

So this all follow a simple rule that necessity is the mother of invention
