What's new

Who do you think will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan after Imran Khan?

When you have to CHNAGE the LAW to provide EXTENSION to a GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE. So that YOUR government can continue to function, then you are not the PRIME minister.

We both know the answer to that question brother.

So would you prefer that they gave extension without changing the law like they have been doing previously?

Unfortunately I see it this way too. If PTI manage a second term they might get their shit together and put someone like Murad Saeed or Asad Umar in a prominent role - but I full expect SM Qureishi to expect to be given the opportunity to lead the party.

I wouldn't vote for him - would you?

He's not going away any time soon...having said that, I am convinced that Murrad Saeed & Hammad Azhar are both Prime Minister material and under both training, mentoring and observation.

I actually like Sheryar Afridi.

Dont You Know Some People have this silly Idea that IK is nothing more than a Puppet and Bajwa is pulling all the Strings behind the Curtain. Its actually Hatred for Khan speaking nothing more.

Agno was right a while back when he said that for such people - it is inconceivable that patriotic and army-appreciative pakistanis would be able to rally behind a democratic leader at the same time. they simply cannot accept the idea behind it all...

the future of PTI is only in democratic elections inside the party.

If PTI supporters do not get the leaders they want, through voting, PTI will also become another flash in the pan.

if you look at political parties in the west, they all have internal elections to elect their leaders. Without this, they party has no future.
PTI or otherwise.

JI has an impressive track record of democratic practices within the party but JI turned into a 'flash in the pan' over the course of time haha

JI isn't a party wide a wide support base. They're a "religious" party without actually being very religious.

Now that you mention it, I could actually see Hammad Azhar as PM. He's a western educated guy who is familiar with the ins and outs of Pakistan's economy and diplomacy. He is probably one of the most qualified guys in my opinion. Dude is as sharp as a tack if you have seen his interviews, he has met with a lot of world leaders as well, impressive. He is definitely PM material if I ever saw it. World Economic Forum (WEC) said Hammad Azhar was one of the world's most promising leaders under 40.

I think Hammad Azhar is future PM

Exactly my point. But don't discount Murad Saeed either. He's young, energetic, very result oriented, focused with zero tolerance for bullsh!t. The innovative way he turned the postal system around speaks for itself, one of the new government departments that has generated income going into the national treasury. He'll make a very result oriented & aggressive, robust PM as well.

the real peculiar aspect of JI is that it is very much an extension of MB (which they even admitted), in the same vein as how AKP is a political extension of MB in Turkey. If given the chance these MB offshoots can garner a good deal of success if fair elections occur (like how they won in Egypt for a time).

Yet they don't learn a thing from these other offshoots of MB on how to catch votes and generate a popular narrative other than relying on religion as the basis.

I think Hammad Azhar is a lot closer to IK because of his position as Federal Minister of Industries and Production, and is much more visible in the international spotlight.

Hammad Azhar is actually one of the most powerful hidden figures in the background of Pakistan because he keeps a quiet and low profile.

If you think about it, almost anything Imran Khan does with the economy has to go through Hammad Azhar because Azhar has a huge amount of influence and leverage on the economic and diplomatic situation of Pakistan given his oversight of industries and production. Ultimately, all of the reforms that Imran Khan is talking about in Federal industries get implemented through Hammad Azhar. CPEC and economic trade deals with Gulf countries and west also fall under oversight of Hammad Azhar. I think he would understand the big picture situation of the country better than probably anyone else besides Imran Khan himself given his roles in the industrial and economic fronts and as a diplomatic representative of Pakistan with world leaders and at global forums. Being Minister of Industries and Production basically means he goes wherever IK goes when economic trade is involved. Since #1 goal of Pakistan right now is to increase economy, I would not be surprised if IK wants him as next PM since he understands it well.

granted shehbaz has a chance but his recent antics haven't grabbed him any fans - i.e. the chance is low

Badde Mian has gone to London and also has been the PM for 3 times. Game over for him.

Shabaz Shareef in my opinion has a very good chance. PML N at the moment is not causing any problems for the army and the government, which is a big positivity for Pakistan.

I know this isn't going to happen, but for me this would be the ideal situation. Imagine by the end of the current PTI tenure, we enter into a Putin style presidential system with President Raheel Sharif at the helm with Bajwa, Imran, Ghafoor and other top people holding key positions. Can you imagine the agony & screaming coming from India if that happened? All the sell out judges & politicians would be crying foul to as they know what would be coming for them for the harm they've caused this great nation of ours :sniper:
