Who Created Taliban, Who Still Funds Them?

By Tony Cartalucci
Global Research, December 17, 2014

While the US funds roughly a billion USD a year to the Taliban in Afghanistan “accidentally,” their allies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia are confirmed to be funding the Taliban in Pakistan.
In the Guardian’s article, “WikiLeaks cables portray Saudi Arabia as a cash machine for terrorists,” the US State Department even acknowledges that Saudi Arabia is indeed funding terrorism in Pakistan:
Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups such as the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba – but the Saudi government is reluctant to stem the flow of money, according to Hillary Clinton.

LeJ has received money from several Persian Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. These countries funded LeJ and other Sunni militant groups primarily to counter the rising influence of Iran’s revolutionary Shiism.

It appears, just as in Libya, Syria, and Iraq, the West and its allies are waging a proxy war in Pakistan as well. Attempts to exploit the tragedy in Peshawar compound this insidious agenda.

This guy Tony Cartalucci needs something else to give him a better job. It sure isn't journalist. I tried to sing once at a party many years ago. Someone told me never try to sing to make a living out of it as I'd starve to death. I took that advise pretty darn seriously. This Tony guy needs to read the first line and follow it. Otherwise, no one would read his crap.
Some course correction: The Saudi's working with the ISI out of everyone else, FIRST created the concept of "Mujahedeen" as the front line of defense against the Soviet Union. Later, when these guys did some damage with Saudi financed weapons from China and other places, the plan was sold to the US.
The US, then took that plan and advanced it with training and additional weapons support and the ISI took responsibility for creating, managing and running the entire "Mujahedeen training", weapons training, transfer and target details. The US would provide content that would then be sent to the Mujahedeen by the ISI. Its a known fact.
Anyone who think the US just decided to go into Afghanistan one day to create these people, is just out of touch with the reality.

Next, some of the above may be correct about Taliban trying to do business with the US. They had all the support as the elected government of Afghanistan and the Saudis and the Europeans were all working with them too. What's wrong in doing business with a country? We had an issue with them when we got attacked. We even asked them to hand over OBL but they refused. If they had listened to us, the war in Afghanistan wouldn't have either exited or prolonged so much.

We did a lot of business with Pakistan and gave them weapons while some of our agencies were openly talking about Pakistan building an A-Bomb......but once it was all confirmed, the sanctions were put in. Similarly, we work with other nations too. Until someone goes against out interests or attacks our embassies or buildings. Then all business is suspended and its a war already declared on us, which the US military will respond to with ALL its might. So why create a scenario where the you'll face the consequences to begin with? I see all this anti-American drama on here. But why invoke us if the other party can't face the consequences??

Last, with regards to this Taliban situation, has the world forgotten for over a DECADE we've told the Pakistanis that these terrorists are insane maniacs and there is no such thing as a "good or bad terrorist" and that all terrorists need to be brought to justice? Had the US voice be heard MANY years ago, today, you would probably have 30-40 thousand troops alive and many thousand civilians who perished, would probably still be alive as you'd take care of these good and bad terrorists a long time ago.

Its sad to see these silly threads that spread gossip and misinformation about the US. When the US has been trying to warn Pakistan of the consequences of playing the good and the bad terrorist game.

Also, I do agree with something from the little article. Pakistan's worst FRENEMY (friendly enemy) is the KSA. They don't stop funding these terrorist regimes. The other major FRENEMIES are the Iranians and the Afghans. The US is running interference with the Afghanist so they'll support the Pak Army in rooting out the terrorists on each end. Pakistan needs to have a serious talk with the Saudis and the Iranians and the US will help against any operation that will get rid of these terrorists from the Pakistani society and make it more peaceful, safer and successful. It is in the US, India and everyone's best interest.
