TTP has changed. TTP south Waziristan is an ISI proxy and still remains. TTP is fragmented into minimum four groups.

HUJI has carried out several terror attacks in India, the list is long. They are also accused of targeting Shias in India, which is typical modus operandi of Lashkar e jhangvi in Pakistan. HUJI was also involved in Kashmir, in 90's for jehad.

There is also truth to that the now defunct company, Enron, with then full support and facilitation from Pakistan, had attempted at building a Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan pipeline, within Afghanistan during 96-97 period. And had welcomed representatives from Afghanistan to Texas. However, I believe Bridas, an Argentine company had finally won that deal.

What does that mean? certainly not that the U.S. government was supportive of terrorism. Certainly not one directed towards itself or anyone outside the borders.

There was a period when we supported Iran and its civil nuclear ambitions. That does not mean we supported it having Nuclear weapons. Yes, the world is a complicated place and no, it does not mean promoting terrorism was ever our policy. Sometimes we have to work with bad actors in hopes of getting them to change. Change does not happen by simply having no contacts. And we certainly have made many mistakes.
