Genuine question here. I am wondering who's behind the power in Iran. I am aware that Khamenei has the last say but Im pretty sure he is not the mastermind behind everything.

There must be some guys presenting him plans that he approves or disapproves. Lets say the Syria conflict, arming Hezbollah, creating proxies etc. Who is behind the planning? I remember Iran was a different Iran during Ahmadinejad times. Investing a lot in defence and technology. And I believe one of the main goals at the time was to portray Iran as "powerful" "dangerous" "ready to strike back" Now during Rouhani it is more portrayed as "exploited", "peaceful", "a feel sorry for nation" Who are the true masterminds? And how much "planning and thinking" do you think Khamenei does?

IRGC runs the show, military doctorine and technologies needed to fulfill it, research and development (military), foreign policy for sure. What does an Ayatollah know about that?

Iran is a Republic, thus there are many different factions all with varying degrees of power in some form or some area.

The Supreme Leader while having the ultimate say really governs among consensus of all these factions with a favoritism towards his own faction (ultra conservative).

These factions aren't necessarily clearly visible and defined thus Iran's power structure is defined as opaque and hard to truly gauges.

Thus to truly keep the system intact the Republic's Supreme Leader govern fairly enough among the factions so that fissures do not appear and start to erode the power structure.

Parliament, government.

If government permits Iranian Irgc invest in economic plans. (I knew it recently)

Im wondering how a country can survive a chaotic revolution followed by a devastating 8 year old long war with Iraq, and dont forget that Iraq received support from all major world powers and even used chemical weapons.
Make such technologic advancement despite being sanctioned. I cant imagine any other country being able to progress like this if it had been in Irans shoes.

Our biggest enemy in the region (Saddam) is gone. Us basically handed Iraq over to us. We have proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon who kicked Israels ***. Now think about this. Wasn't it Khomeini that created Hezbollah as soon as Khomeini came to power? The only reason Israel doesn't dare to attack us is because they know what we can do them through Hezbollah. And using Syria as a gateway to arm Hezbollah? I mean who came up with all this? Its like they have been planning and predicting the future since day 1. Who are these masterminds?

Right now President Ruhani has most of the power elements in Iran .Ruhani won election so he got government again for 4 years .
questionable majority in parliament and about half of supreme national security council.
decision making in security matters will be done in supreme national security council and a little in parliament
decision making in economy and social matters will be done in Ruhani's government and parliament .
since we are not at war at the moment, none security issues are more important so I say the most chicken eggs are in Rohani's basket

some blood sucking mafia who see Iranian as sheep and they are milking us and beheading us for gaining more profit ...

where in the world Mobile Operator sell 100 Megabyte Internet for 1$-1.5$ for just 1 day !?

Your govt. is spending in Syria, they need money for that and there are only 2 sources a)US and b)Iran.
Pakistani loyalists do chip in with cash, but their major share is services, where Iran saves $ billions.

(1) I don't have enough knowledge about Iran, but it seems that Economy comes almost completely under Rohani Government.

(2) Social Issues ..... Basic laws were decided during the era of the Khomeini.
Thus Rohani is unable to change these basic Islamic laws, for example all women have to take Hijab.
But perhaps police becomes little lenient in enforcing these laws under Rohani/Moderates.
But on the other side, I think President does not have any direct influence upon the police and Judiciary.

For sure Judiciary is in the hands of conservatives and there President Rohani has little to say.
May be Iranian friends here could tell us more about the Judiciary and the Police system

(3) Defence is for sure directly under Khaminei.
It is some what same in the US too, where elected President does not have all the say, but mostly president follows the policies of CIA.

All you need to know, all major industries are owned by mulla, and to start any tiny shop you need license from mulla clergy, as long you are not politically and religiously clean, you can't run a cigarette shop or find a job.

On political side, Iran has killed all Muslims and only Shia and atheist are let to live.
Where Atheist are majority in Iran and they go along nicely with mulla clergy and act as a tool to ensure Iranian interests in west.

If its a matter of defense, its Indians who have precedence over local atheists.

. . .
OK, Jews and zorastanis are also allowed to let live, only Muslims are subjected to genocide of revolution.

@The Eagle @waz @Serpentine
Take care of this sectarian suicidal terrorist.
He is accusing a whole nation of having bad desires about beloved holy Mecca while non of Iranian rulers even Safavids never and ever tried to control Mecca or Madina. Obviously it, ka'aba, is a symbol of our union not an excuse to bash an other side/branch of Islam.

.
do you ppl ever think that our governments are playing us ? like iranian clergy and saudi wahabie collaborating against thier population?.
