1960s was only a false flight that was carried on the wind generated by Ayub Khan with his crisp cloths, even more crisper British Army accent and manners. He somehow fooled the Americans into thinking Pakistan was like Turkey, Greece, Cyprus. Help it along and it would turn into a Euro style country. Soon the Amerucans figured out and after the 1965 war it was all over. Few years down and American dollars started to run out. End of good times. The goldrush was over.

The economy after the 1965 war under Ayub Khan was still actually doing really good. Overall, the average growth rate under Ayub Khan was around 7%.

Hypothetically I would choose India.
But for that we have to generate 250 million jobs , Increase Agriculture growth to 5 % yoy and increase manufacturing sector to 28 % of GDP and all these will have to be done through sustainable growth .

No, I meant your earlier id.

On point, I agree its Sri Lanak since historically it has been the land of the golden city and the kingdom of the god of wealth, Kuber. That post of my was deleted for some reason.

Back in 1960s after they met officials from Pakistan who mostly were the crop from the British era the American's were genuinely fooled or lulled themselves into thinking Pakistan as a Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, South Korea, Taiwan that with some help would become a solid part of the Western bulwark.

They got it right for Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, South Korea, Taiwan but Pakistan? Well you know the answer. All the other five today are solid members of NATO or other Western architecture.
Pakistan has potential to become another Turkey, but for that it need to curb the high population growth.Otherwise high GDP growth will be eaten away by high population growth.Bangladesh and India is about to reach the replacement fertility rate, but Pakistan has still more than 3 children per woman and population is growing by 2 percent per year.By this rate population will double in 35 years.Than all the development plan will be meaningless. If Pakistan want quality than it need to curb the quantity. I think, Pakistan already has sufficient quantity, now focus should be solely on quality.

It is actually the regions which grows, it is highly unlikely that B'desh becomes a developed country and India not, or vice versa. Or Pakistan doesn't develops at a similar pace. Development with iron curtain, in solitude and with walls all around is not possible.

Pakistan land resources are huge compared to Bangladesh(that includes geo strategic location). Pakistan is about 5.7 times bigger than B'desh(population 170 million ), and population density is almost half in Pakistan compared to India.

The two extreme geographical regions in Pakistan, GB, Khunjarab at the extreme north and Gwadar port at the extreme north in Pakistan will bring a more diversified, across -the-board development in Pakistan, unlike earlier lopsided development in some areas of Punjab, Karachi and some urban areas. This time many least developed regions like Balochistan and GB will be under massive development, already are.

Land(GB) to sea Gwadar will bring in prosperity to a much wider region of Pakistan, encompasses all of Pakistan if you look into the western and eastern corridors of CPEC.

This new video about Gwadar development and local participation is really motivating...

Bangladesh Economy: News & Updates

Bangladesh overtook India in Textile/Garments exports and now it is only second to China in the world.
Not a mean achievement.

Life expectancy of Bangladesh = 71.
India at bottom (133) with Yemen:

At this time India has been ahead for the last two decades, Bangladesh has caught up and is on track to continue. Pakistan has fallen behind and has seen a prolonged period of economic, political and security turmoil. That could be about to change, but it's largely dependant upon political stability. All three countries will also see issues of sustainability, Pakistan I think in this regard might actually fare better than India or BD. India also is a global player now, and operates on a scale incomparable to Pakistan or BD, there are plenty of nervous people in the US and EU worried about the fragility of their growth should China slow down and to a lesser extent India.

Pakistan is not doing bad looking at the 5.7% GDP growth figure, when the economy is not doing fine, the SME and LSM sector is doing fine. Completion of power sector and infra projects will add at least 2% to the GDP growth rate according to many economists.

And Bangladesh is doing impressive, more across the board, real better HDI figures than the lopsided growth in India, restricted to a few, not more than 6-10% of the population there, looking at the class based divide in India .
