What's new

When will China's military be able to challenge the U.S.?

haha did you not watch the end of the video where they said they were going broke? A fitting microcosm of what would have been if China was still a Maoist country.

I'm not accusing you of being a brain washed commie just that you talk like one. ;)

Obviously you have no understanding of economics

In any country you will see that some states/provinces will always be in debt while other states/provinces will always have surpluses.

If you look at China you will see that the provinces with mostly agriculture or food production will always be in debt while the ones that do manufacturing and exporting will always have a surplus.

Similarly China as a country having a huge surplus means that some other country will have a huge deficit.

A village would have to sell thousands of beers to afford one laptop, but people will only want to drink around 1 bear a day. So the people in province who produce food will never be able to afford laptops.

You demonstrate time and time again, that you know NOTHING about China.

I'll say it again, we have had a "market economy" since 1978.

Your dream died thirty years ago.

Its not a market economy, China has always had a planned economy.

Market economy is when you let the market control your pricing.

The entity that controls the pricing in China is the government NOT the market.3

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_economy

Planned economies are in contrast to unplanned economies, i.e. the market economy, where production, distribution, pricing, and investment decisions are made by the private owners of the factors of production based upon their individual interests rather than upon a macroeconomic plan.

I'll try to explain this again, you have two workers each in a different province. One worker makes a laptop, the other worker makes a beer.

Now the person who wants the laptop wants to trade the beer for it, however the person would have to give the guy with the laptop many beers over a long period of time (because the laptop guy can only drink so much beer a day). So the guy who makes beer will always be in debt while the guy who makes laptop will always have a surplus.

This applies not only to china, but the united states. The farms in the USA are always bankrupt and in debt.

Wrong again.

The Chinese government regulates prices, it does not set the prices. The Economist refers to China as "State Capitalist".

Look at the worrying boom in house prices, and the soaring prices in the garlic market, for two VERY recent examples.

Communism is a system whereby "private property" is abolished, and the state owns everything.

Have you even visited China? It's quite obvious that private property has not been abolished.

Chinaowns is pretty much the exact caricature of what Americans think a brain-washed commie is. Anyone with any sense here has just learned to ignore him and his ridiculous comments.

I hope you were joking. how could you possiblely say that to a fellow Chinese?:blink:

It's oke to have diff opinions. I don't agree with all Chinaowns has said, or all what you've said for that matter, but still, basic respect is required.

Why don't you two shake hands and say  ? :smitten:

When have I said that China was still communist?

The chinese government can control these prices, because it controls the state controlled monopolies.

Want to make laptops more expensive? use state controlled electric monopoly to cut off electricity to the laptop factory for a couple of hours.

OK "Chinaownseverything" let's clear this up.

If you are Chinese, tell me which character in this sentence is wrong.

Chinese government is giving more free hand to the state owned corporations to run in the style of capitalism, making money and contribution to economy is the priority.

Government set policy and give directives, the corporations do the planning and set their own targets.

Private companies are not part of planned economy, yet they flourished in China, Ten Cent, China Mobile, BYD etc are private owned.

In short, China is a communist capitalist nation. The official PRC government term is Market Economy.

I was born in the USA so I do not know how to read chinese, I can only speak cantonese.

What does it matter anyway? Under communism everybody is equal no matter the color of his skin.

But if I were to guess it would be this one, it just looks wrong

Yes, it is "market socialism"... state owned enterprises forming the base of the economy in things like heavy industry and power, while everything else is private.

To some extent, my family doesn't really speak it much, I can't understand movies but I can do naming of basic objects.

If you want I can just PM a picture with a time stamp.

Many overseas chinese cannot speak or write chinese.

I am in school right now, but I will be home in about 4-5 hours, so unable to access my camera

But I will hold a sheet saying Chinese-Dragon on it
