What's new

When will China's military be able to challenge the U.S.?

LOL you got it right anyway.

It's supposed to be "you zhi zhe, shi jing cheng".

(That's in Standard Mandarin pronounciation.)

Haha the pingying details. I never really got how the extra "g" affected the sound. Well thankfully the new Chinese writing programs would tell me the correct ways things are pronounced.

. .
Huh, I pronunced it as yi too.

Yes, I swapped the "jing" character for the "yi" character. The original quote is "you zhi zhe, shi jing cheng".

It was a badly-designed test lol... but anyway Chinaowns has said he doesn't read or speak Chinese. So it wasn't really necessary in the first place.

.
... the thing is, that test could be fooled by anyone that could read chinese and then baidu it... and if they don't read chinese then the test is worthless...

but i still agree with chinaowns alot more than i agree with you and card.

Chinese dragon and Cardsharp,

Some of the views you two hold are just way too PC for my taste; more often than not I would rather go with Chinaowns instead, honestly. I would refrain from calling other Chinese "fuked up" if I were you, as non-liberals would probably call you guys such as well on some occasions. If Chinaowns were not Chinese, perhaps me neither ?

I second you speeder, its a shame to see Chinese insulting their own kind on a public forum just because different view and on matter regarding China, this type of behavior only show some so-called western style liberal Chinese=suck up to foreigners but harsh on their own kind.
At the end of the day, stop attacking your own people, if you disagree with his opinion, discuss with a proper manner or just ignore his post, refrain from some insulting name calling or like you ain't Chinese!!

I told you before, I don't care if someone is "ethnically" Chinese, Indian or American.

If someone says that China does not have a market economy... they are wrong. Regardless of what race they are.

Also I agree it's wrong to insult other forum members.

.
To be brutally honest, Chinese dragon and cardsharp, I really would apologise to chinaowns to show due sincerity and respect if I were you, regardless 'face' or whatever he says, surely you would reckon ?

btw, his straight talk reminds me of the renouned yet "late" Grey Boy 2, or it's just me? :azn:

You're right.

I apologize to Chinaownseverything.

I thought he was an American/Indian pretending to be Chinese, like all the others that have popped up on the forum recently.

But actually he is an ABC, which is what confused me in the first place.

absolutely. china has a market economy. we also have a socialist economy right alongside it. communism has never existed and no country has ever claimed to be communist.

Exactly, which is why I was confused when I read these posts:

Its not a market economy, China has always had a planned economy.

Look at this, only with communism can the world achieve peace

Even the CPC itself says that we have a market economy. The exact phrase is "Socialist market economy".

communism is an ideal but practically, it will never happen, nor will true capitalism. useless ideological debates like this are for western whites. chinese people have always been practical. mao was a chinese first and a communist 2nd, otherwise we would've ended up like north korea or vietnam.

That's true.

If it were implemented perfectly, it would be an ideal system.

Chinese people have always been about pragmatism though. Like Deng Xiaoping's famous quote: "I don't care if a cat is black or white, all I care about is that it can catch mice".

That pragmatism is the reason why China is so successful today.

my dear friend china has much more advanced weapons than it shows on paper, china never shows them in public, NEVER UNDERESTIMATE CHINA

US has more secret state of the art weapons' systems than China. In fact, China's secret state of the art weapons' systems are nothing in front of US' publicized weapons' systems.

China's weapons' systems are far behind the stage that US achieved even before the Second World War. A war between China and US will result in the whole sale casualties of Chinese soldiers and US invasion and destruction of Chinese mainland with almost no potential Chinese military resistance. US will simply bomb Chinese air force on ground even before any Chinese air craft can take off. This is why US is provoking China.

US has the capability of striking anywhere on the planet with utmost accuracy and precision, be it Moscow or Beijing, within less than an hour. This is not a joke. China can hardly achieve this capability.

In US, military options always stay on the table while framing foreign policies. US has a web of intelligence network around the globe. US military has a global vision. In US civilian commercial sectors are devoted to defense sectors. Actually the weakness of Chinese military is its backward outmoded thinking. Can you believe in this era of globalization, Chinese military has no global vision? Another thing is that China spends little for its military up-gradation. China can't provide sufficient body armors and high tech combat gears to its troops, being the second largest economy on paper. May be its because of the corrupt leaders who grab all the money leaving the Chinese military with little amount of money and leaving China defense less.

Whatever it is, Chinese military was and is behind US military might.

.
We often see Chinese elite troops receiving combat training without body armor. But US elite troops receive combat training with body armor.

When US invaded Japan's Okinawa, Japanese troops were fighting the US marines with swords. But they could not withstand the onslaught of US marines' sophisticated firearms. The result was the total casualties of all Japanese soldiers and civilians. US military does not discriminate between soldiers and civilians. They enjoy shooting and killing people. Thats fun for them.

Japan under-estimated US military might.
