So I came across this on my twitter, apparently day traders are organising to by stocks that hedge funds are shorting, forcing them to buy them back and eventually making a profit from it. My nephew i think is doing something similar, he's a student.

Is this something any of you guys are involved in? Is it worthwhile getting into? Can the average Pakistani benefit from it?

ordinary ppl , day traders and retail buyers, banded together and discovered that wall street hedge funds had opened large short positions on GME.

these boys figured out that if they do a co-ordinated buying and drive the value of share up, then those hedge funds would be forced to close their short positions forcing them to buy stocks at higher prices .

this is what has driven GME so high


reportedly, hedge funds shorting GME have lost billions


they are calling it financial insurrection of us vs the elite

My son bought 10 shares of Gamestop at $45 a share 2 days ago. Today they were up to $483 I think. I just wish I had dropped $50000 into it when he kept telling me about it. However there is something big going on at Wallstreet and investigations should probably start soon. All redditers were making a lot of noise about Gamestop stocks and to buy and hold.
It is probably going to bottom out any time now. They were predicting it to reach $1000 before dropping. I do not think it is going to happen. People who bought it at low price are probably starting to sell fast right now and getting out before it crashes. I am not sure about what game is being played here.

The memes and financial news freakouts have been fun, but people are blowing this out of proportion. Valuation is all that matters in the end, and most of the hysteric bulls from wsb will lose, even if the shorts have been forced out for now.

the modern stock exchange has this flaw. stocks should not be traded as a commodity. price should not be affected by supply and demand barometers. this just become a gamble.
