Iran and Syria. Assad had backed Hezbollah during their earlier conflict with Israel. But whats strange is Hezbollah units seems to be far far more competent than even the Syrian and Iranian units...

There are no real "Iranian" units in Syria though except for some officers that coordinate and help the Syrians with logistic and technical support. There are volunteers though from Iran and other groups that Iran help and train, and they mostly protect shrines and etc in Syria. But have been called in to help the Syrians in battle every now and then. But i wouldn't call them Iranian troops. Just like i wouldn't call Hezbollah troops, Iranian troops. Because they are their own. True, Iran helps them with training, arms and financial support etc. But they are their own force. And what makes them successful is that they are motivated amongst other things, pretty well trained, know war and are battle hardened and also because they have huge support in their countries whether it be in Lebanon or Iraq etc, from everyone. There are Sunni, Christian,Druze Hezbollah units as well and so on.

The main difference between Hezbollah and Arab armies is that Hezbollah is not an army at all. Hezbollah is basically a big special force unit.

Such strategy has pros and cons:

Pros:
1) Their fighters are highly trained (almost like western army soldiers), disciplined and motivated.
2) Since they are small in number and dont have tanks/APC/heavy artillery etc ther are hard to hit from the air.
3) They dont need much supplies and logistics (which is also very vulnerable to air attacks).

But this strategy has also huge cons:

1) They cant conquer any territory. Even in Syria, when they attacked poorly armed and trained peasants in Quseir they were miserably beaten. Theycould return back only when Quseir was leveled to ground by SAA artillery and air force.
2) They can't even stop army from advancing. They can inflict casualties but no more.
3) The number of casualties they inflict is also tiny compare to casualties inflicted by army. For example in Yom Kippur war Israel lost 2600 soldiers and 800 tanks in 16 days while in 2006 Hezbollah war Israel lost 120 soldiers and 5 tanks in 34 days.

So overall Hezbollah is a shiny bubble with lots of hot air.

Hezbollah is different to any other guerrilla organisations in the world. One of the secret to their success is secrecy itself. Hezbollah being a non state actor has recourse to every aspect of a state actor...thanks to its loyal guardians in Iran & Syria.

Organisationally Hezbollah is one of the best organised & disciplined guerrilla force in the world with decentralised control & command unlike any other in this business. Technology wise they have the capability to create conventional weapons with off the shelf & readily available commercial technology. They have put in place a complete commercial infrastructure to support & promote their cause on the ground. They do things differently to most of those around.

As for the defense acquisition, Israel's defense budget is currently $15.6 billion + 3 billion in american aid.

I get it that you don't like Hezbollah. But that's misinformation right there, or you don't really know about the Battle of Al-Qusayr. A lot of analysts say that the battle went well because of Hezbollah. And in the 1st day of the battle, the SAA, after Hezbollah joined were in control of 60% of the city. And it took them 2 weeks and 3 days to win the battle.

And regarding the Yom Kippur war and 2006 Hezbollah war. You should mention that Hezbollah only had a few hundred soldiers compared to Israels tens of thousands of soldiers as well as Israel having tanks,air power etc in the 2006 war. And in the Yom Kippur war, There were close to a million soldiers on the Arab side and Israel had 415000 soldiers. So of course there will be more casualties in that war.

I agree with the Pros and the description of them being sort of a big special force unit though.

Pakistan's budget is 7.6 billion USD and look what they have managed to make: A crappy army made of M48s, T54/55s, Type 59s, Type 63s which are basically copies of Russian cold war tanks, Type 69 which is a copy of the T-62s and more crappy tanks you call them Al Khalid, what a miracle, an army that is so weak that has military usage of their training aircrafts, what a miracle, an army that still mostly use F7 fighter aircraft and Mirage 3s and 5s, very nice miracle

Our tiny sized tiny population has more money than you without any aid while you have yours
