Does anyone have experience or information about hiring bodyguards for a few days in Pakistan?

.
I get to hear the same.
I don't understand how people even follow Bollywood?

Though pakistan do many troubles in India, we don't hate sane pakistani's, since Indians are soft people, good heart and many are hard working and that't why they are successful in many parts of the world especially in US.Yes we hate those who bring harm to us in first place and some of our response accordingly....

@jhungary is semi-retired as of April 2016.

He posted a new thread on his Afghanistan experiences in Seniors cafe.

I tried to let him know that the GAU-8 (on which he had a comment and a question) has a selectable fire rate (2100 rpm from my days in addition to the 4200 rpm he mentioned) and that rotary cannon sch as the 30mm GAU-8 Avenger and the 20mm M61 Vulcan usually take 0.25 seconds to spool up to full firing rate.

However, I do not have sufficient privileges to be able to post in that thread or contact him otherwise.

So please beware @Fenrir and @Curious_Guy

lol, as I said, I actually don't know how quickly can A-10 expand its ammo, not being an Mil-Aviation professional, I would have no way to know and the figure I use is a simple calculation on data from wikipedia :)

Trust me, when you are on the ground, you are calling for airstrike, the last thing you care about is how fast can they expand their ammunition hehe :)

Sorry did not realize I could contact you this way. Fenrir had actually recommended you for infantry questions above.

OK, I stand corrected @Fenrir @Curious_Guy

I mean about @jhungary being hale and hearty, alive and well, as he surely is.

Yes, you can contact me this way when I am online, otherwise it's quite hard to find me :)

And I am in no way an expert of infantry, I just served and only know a little to be honest, I am just one of the guys.

But I am happy to help whenever and whatever way I can.

So @Armstrong what's going on with you?

It's snowing:yahoo:, so I've spent the day mountain side getting my ski on and will probably do the same tomorrow. Any of the white stuff where you're at yet?

And I don't mean this:o:!!

Wimp:P. I've got a coat if you want to borrow it. Those ears would really extenuate your dorkiness:D.

What do you do if it starts snowing? Panic? Order a pizza and binge watch Netflix with your lady friend?

Actually that's not a bad idea. Looks like I've found my rest of the day activity if the roads get worse:unsure:.

I'm not a wimp.

Anything under 5 C is cold....its very cold. :undecided:

Fur....I'd never wear fur...I love animals too much. :o:

And to think you were looking for work in Norway:tsk:.

Did you know that in parts of Central Norway temperatures dip into the -40s and -50s. To escape the cold one must either move to the coastal areas which tend to be warmer or even move to a higher altitude. Strange right, but it's true.

In Sigdal inversion actually makes the valley floor colder then the surrounding hills and mountains.

I reserve my judgement. You sir are a wimp:p:.

Fur....I'd never wear fur...I love animals too much. :o:

Oh, but it's fake fur:cry:. I'd never wear animal fur either, but I do happen to love tasty animals.

I've actually never understood that. We Vikings would use every part of the animal we could find. The blood, the skin, the pelt, the bones and not let anything go to waste because of our reverence of animals and the necessity of conserving resources for the winter.

Today many people have concerns about wearing animal pelts, but still eat meat. Then again I've never heard of anyone eating foxes.

That isn't a bad idea at all....today is my day off so maybe thats what I'm gonna do as well.

What are you gonna watch though? Maybe Downtown Abbey? :azn:

You don't normally work on Saturdays do you? If you do I might need to start a "Free Armstrong" protest campaign. No one should work on the weekends.

Hmm, what to watch? Downtown Abbey is more of an old lady thing, so it's perfect for you:tongue:. But I'm thinking, actually I don't know yet. Maybe a movie, some pizza and some cuddling by the fireplace:azn:.

Well I would've frozen to death the moment I had walked out of the office towards the car. :undecided:

Yeah I never got that one too.

I suppose the argument could be that many animals are killed not so much for their meat but their furs so no to fur means that they get to live. Its not as if someone wants to wear a suit out of chicken feathers? :undecided:

Or do they? :o:

They've asked me to work on Sundays though.

I'm off this Sunday though. So if you want to go partying....I'm game. 8-)

I've never watched Downtown Abbey but I've heard its really good so I think I'm gonna watch it. :agree:

How about watching the latest episodes of the Vikings? :azn:

I feel like I'd be wasting my time replying to this, quite honestly, most of it is irrelevant to the discussion and to the points I made. In fact, it is such an irrelevant rant, that the forum's automatic detection flagged this as possible spam, and I had to approve the post for it to be visible to other members.

Reluctantly, I'll respond. But please for God's sake actually read and repspond to the content irrelevant rants aren't in line with the thread or my own post that you just responded to.

You find it convenient to label my response a rant. I get the message you are trying to convey, and without a care in the world, I will press forward and make you show your reality.

First of all, you've missed the entire bloody point I was making, I was not trying to praise the west, rather for you to realise that if I took your quote about atheists in Pakistan, and turned it around by replacing some of the phrases, and I asked you to imagine your reaction if it was an westerner talking about Muslims in their country.

That^ is your post which I've superimposed the scenario on. My point was, you'd take issue with it when it was a westerner saying this, but you happily say it as a Pakistani Muslim who distrusts atheists in these positions, and that is a form of great hypocrisy. At the very least the logic you've applied to one part, you couldn't apply the same against yourself, at worst it's blind hypocrisy.

Right, let me spell it out for you. This thread is eulogizing the promotion of an atheist in the army of a predominantly Muslim country. I have raised my concerns about that. My concerns being purely religious and parochial, agreed. In response to these concerns, you are telling me I wouldn't like it if a Westerner espoused such concerns against me. Thus, in your view, I hold others by principles I'd rather not be held against.

And what I am telling you, is that Westerners ARE espousing exactly such concerns against me and my religion. I am living the reality you are describing. Many Muslims are.

So you may respond, well, we need to be better than them. Let's make Pakistan Armed forces a model of 'equality', and 'tolerance', and 'meritocracy'. And, given the irreligious history of Pakistani leaders, it is easy to see that this is exactly the model that has been followed in Pakistan in both government and military affairs. And this leads to a situation where in a Muslim country the governor can publicly speak against the fundamental tenets of Islam. Where the Sindh Assembly can pass a law disallowing under 18s from accepting Islam. The list is very long.

Believe me, I think I know better than most of the political systems in the West. Including the bigots, the far right, the neocons. I know them probably better than you.

In Europe we have similar, in terms of parties we have UKIP in the UK, Front Nationale in France, Alternative fur Deutschland in Germany, Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, Golden Dawn in Greece, Jobbik in Hungary, Sweden Democrats in Sweden. There are also multiple far right street movements like the EDL in England and Pegida in Germany. And all of these entities are far right, their nationalistic, some are openly racist etc.

So I know this and am fully aware of it, thank you very much for pointing out what I already knew.

BUT, for all those far right parties, there are also left wing parties, progressives, tolerant parties in greater number, and they still have had historically higher support than the far right. For example, for every UKIP supporter in England, there are more Labour supporter, Green supporters, Lib Dems etc. In Germany for every Pegida and AfD supporter, there are more Green party supporters, SPD, Die Linke etc.

Yes, and all of those 'liberal' forces stand around while France bans the face veil for Muslim women. So, the fundamental tenets of Islam are not upheld in Muslim countries, and the fundamental tenets of Islam are not allowed in Western countries either. We, Muslims, have the right to practice all commandments of our religion. And we are being systematically denied both in our own lands and in non-Muslim lands by the same secular, irreligious, liberal lobby.

So your generalisation of the west here is not only an irrelevant rant, but it's also exactly that, a generalisation.
And I'll ignore the far right references to Australia, it's not worth discussing any further.

Actually your trivialization of my concerns shows that you are not even looking for a rational debate. You are too set and too comfortable with the status quo that anything contrary is a rant not worth discussing any further. Let me rephrase this for you. The material evidence that I am providing you about poisonous vitriol being espoused against Islam and Muslims is of no concern to you and you'd rather let this thread continue in its 'secular', 'meritocratic' harmony.

Also, if it is all bad, what are you doing living on Australia where you seem so very oppressed? You poor soul, you should return to Pakistan and free yourself from the tyranny of liberalism.

Sure. I'll be free of liberal tyranny in Pakistan. Let's prove this. From this point onwards, please delete all pro-Qadiyani posts on the forum. Thank you.

The fact of the matter is, returning to Pakistan doesn't solve anything. There are any number of Muslims in Australia who were born here. Where should they go? And should I leave my Muslim brethren and take the easy way out myself?

These are big words with heavy judgements, careful how far you go.

I've said now above, I am fully aware of intolerance and bigotry in the west, I consider it as backward and regressive as extremism in Pakistan is. And believe me, I know it plenty better than you, of that I am sure.

So spare me your condescension. And it's not feigned ignorance on my part but perhaps actual ignorance on yours to rant and jump to silly conclusions like this, while from the very start posting irrelevant discussions. You've not actually addressed the point of my previous post.

I still think I actually didn't need to give that long winded explanation above. A selective reality which ignores the problems important to me and many other Muslims suits you and you can conveniently dismiss it as ranting, misunderstanding, jumping to conclusions, 'whatever', etc.

Protecting your way of life, and being insular is a sure way of never progressing. Take Saudi for example, they're an oil rich state so the comparison is distorted, they've preserved their way of life, and in terms of progress they are well behind even Pakistan, and the progress is such that the billions of barrels of oil owned might mask the lack of it, but it's a serious deficiency.

In no way, shape or form do I want to follow the Saudi model. But yes, discussing the appropriate model may take us too far from this thread.

So your issue is essentially ideological, atheist or infidel can't have a higher status than a Muslim especially in an Islamic republic? That is the essence of that last quote, correct/?

I am not privy to all wisdoms in the Ahadith of our Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wasallam. The greatness of his wisdom cannot never be fully comprehended. Since I do not hold the mantle of being an elucidator of Hadith, I won't comment on whether this is an issue of 'status', or whether the Prophet Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wasallm is giving us guidance that our larger interests as a group are always best served by practicing Muslims who are more knowledgeable about the Holy Quran and religion in general. But his instructions are what they are. In any case, a non-Muslim should not be a commander in a Muslim army.

I'd categorise your idea as a great jest, I don't even know where to begin on this one.
You realise that Pakistan air force for instance has/had legends like Ronald Afzal, or Cecil Chaudhry? Non Muslims they are, and also victims of your verdict against them. Thank God you don't dictate PAF strategy.

Victims? And you blame me for playing the victim card! These legends could just as well have served as technical consultants without giving them command over Muslims. Or, they could be given command over non-Muslims. Or, if they actually got victimized, the purposes of the PAF would still be served because there are any number of capable, intelligent Muslims in Pakistan who can serve, if not better than them, than at least just as well.

Also, you spent the majority of this irrelevant rant crying about bigotry in the West, yet here you are voicing a purely bigoted opinion, the non-Muslim has no status over the Muslim for any reason, this is pure bigotry and nothing else.

It is you who are reducing it to a status issue. A technical adviser, or consultant can benefit the army just as well. If you consider that the Prophet Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wasallam was the Commander and he led the prayers, Abu Bakr, and Umar were Commanders and led the prayers, it is easy to see that Muslims would like to follow in their footsteps and have the Commander lead prayers. A non-Muslims Commander cannot fulfil this role. A non-Muslim Commander cannot be trusted to give instructions that are in the best interests of Islam and Muslims. In the end, following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wasallam isn't bigotry.

For your next reply, I would urge you to read first, and understand what I'm saying and then respond, don't leap to conclusions and rant about the irrelevant. And if you want to further discuss, post it here:

https://defence.pk/threads/whatever.46703/page-4484

We've derailed this thread enough as it is.

Well done. Relegate inconvenient discussions to 'whatever'. Your encouragement to read and understand is uncalled for. I understand perfectly well, thank you very much. And kindly refrain from persistently demeaning and insulting myself by labelling my words as 'rant'.

Is this a Joke or a insult on non-muslim?

It is the fact of the matter, and the teachings of Islam.

.
@CriticalThought I've moved this post here, as I said we should continue this here.

I'll reply when I have time, that is if there's any discussion still to be had.
