What's new

They're fine. I'll leave you to convince Freyja to stop by, I don't like to bother or pester her into being part of forums, especially the myriad of defense one's I'm part of. It's just not her thing. But she likes you and might be willing to drop by if only to fool around with you.

She did drop by the other forum a week past and said she'd drop by again when shes a little more free. She does seem overworked. But I've always gotten the vibe from her that she likes what she does and if thats true then I'm sure work doesn't really feel like 'work'. So I'm happy for her. :)

We're gearing up for the holiday season, how're things going over there? Are you going to visit our lovely tree in Trafalgar Square? Every year Norway gives Britain a tree for Christmas, it's tradition dating back to 1947 as a token of out appreciation to the people of the UK for their help during WWII.

Hehe, she might have a few more wrinkles now then she did last year. It's neat though and I'm proud that she's finally turning into a responsible, boring adult:D.

Nah, actually I'm proud that she's showing the Norwegian people that food beyond our borders doesn't taste like salt water and dirt:wacko:. This year for a limited time American Thanksgiving foods are being added to the menus, which is cool since we're also celebrating Thanksgiving for the first time... well celebrating the food anyway, not the spirit or meaning.

I've had a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner not an American one though and I honestly don't know the difference nor what you meant by the spirit or meaning bit. :undecided:

I'm guessing it might have a dodgy history to it and I know google is just a click away but I'm too lazy to search for it. :alcoholic:

Might be? Up until about 5 years ago immigrating to Norway was virtually unheard of. Even now there are so few cases that while it happens, you aren't likely to run into anyone who immigrated.

I don't like to describe it as being built to discourage foreigners from attempting to immigrate, but let's be honest, that's exactly how it is.

If you'd like to come you could always try to claim you're my long lost brother. Oslo's got a sizable Pakistan population so perhaps immigration would by that:enjoy:.

We could try the long lost brother thing but I dunno if its gonna work. I mean theres me - Perfection Incarnate - a man who epitomizes machismo, suave and panache as if the Greek gods themselves have taken human form. :smokin:

And then theres you a beautiful, funny and intelligent...........HOBBIT ! :P

I'm off to bed and have a big day of burning down the house... oh that's right, I'm not allowed to cook anymore:angry:. Looks like I've a big day of sitting on my butt instead. But I might not be around too much tomorrow, trying this American Thanksgiving food stuff for the first time and all.

I've heard deep-frying a Turkey can be dangerous:o:!!

I've heard that the Americans are big into deep frying stuff; my buddy from the States once told me that he misses deep fried ice cream. :o:

. . .
She does seem overworked.

But not underappreciated, so it balances out:happy:. If she whines too much just remind her that working is her choice and I make enough to support the three of us comfortably.

I'm proud too though. I support her playing videogames professionally or doing video streaming on the side, but it's very inconsistent income wise (though a jackpot if you win a gaming tournament) and involves too much travel, especially with me on the road a lot too for work business.

She's growing up and becoming more responsible and it's making me feel like an old lady who's seeing her unruly teenage daughter become a responsible, productive adult:cry:.

At the end of the day I don't discourage any choice she make so long as they aren't destructive and are hers.

I honestly don't know the difference nor what you meant by the spirit or meaning bit. :undecided:

American Thanksgiving is about the time the pilgrims, European settlers and the indigenous Americans got together for one large feast to celebrate goodwill and friendship... before it devolved into what is now today.

Not being an American I feel fine stuffing my face with stuffing, but not celebrating traditions that largely have nothing to do with Norwegians. Our settlers ended up in Iceland, Greenland and Canada, not modern day America.

I celebrate food:partay:. We deep fried a turkey, made stuffing and green bean casserole, Brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes, and had two different types of pie, apple and pumpkin, plus ice-cream.

I woke up with a stomach ache. It got worse when I opened the fidge and saw all the leftover food:bad:. Next year I think we'll skip Thanksgiving.

We could try the long lost brother thing but I dunno if its gonna work. I mean theres me - Perfection Incarnate - a man who epitomizes machismo, suave and panache as if the Greek gods themselves have taken human form. :smokin:

Nah, you'll just look like any of the locals.

I've stared at this photo for far too long:D.

She'd be cute if her feet didn't look like Bigfoot's:o:!!

You're not making fun of my size are you:angry:?

my buddy from the States once told me that he misses deep fried ice cream. :o:

And you should try it. It's a real thing, as a connoisseur of sweets I can confirm.

Playing videogames professionally? Has she won anything? :o:

I wanted to do that as well; I was rather good at (MOHA) Medal of Honour but I was told to grow up and choose a proper profession. :(

As mine and Freyja's surrogate mother and Fox Jr.'s mother we'd all like to say: vår mor beste mor :enjoy:

I dunno if the tv series Vikings is historically accurate but your ancestors had a tendency of going in with all guns blazing, having their butts spanked and then coming back the falling season to do it all over again till you succeeded. My ancestors on the other hand were more like 'aah the soil is so fertile here that if you eat an apple and then throw it with the seed intact, the next year, on that spot, there will be an apple tree growing. So why bother yourself with hard work?'. But of course we got royally walked over by everyone because of this attitude. :tsk:

Mashed potatoes - You can't go wrong with mashed potatoes!

Me making fun of your size.....? Fox how could you even think such a thing? :o:

But yes I am. :woot:

No I'm just messing with you.

That is mouthwatering. :smitten:

IMO because Muhammad didn't have a son at the time of his death, the first caliph should have been his elder grandson Hasan, with Abu Bakr and Ali being co regents since Hasan was too young to rule at the time of Muhammad's death. This would have ensured stability and unity. Your thoughts?
There is vast difference in shia and sunni thought about this. The sunni belief is that the prophet did not appoint a successor from amongst his family ever, thus it does not matter whether a relative or another person rules provided the person is mentally, physically and in other ways capable for the stress of running an Islamic State.

Don't get me wrong I have deep respect for shias and how they have with tolerance saved themselves from the violence the like of which ISIS/Taliban partake in but this is the common sunni view. Shia view may differ and our shia brothers should share their opinions.

I guess the thread was closed because religious discussions are not allowed. The thread had potential to become a troll fest.

@haviZsultan I agree with you pulse this is very sensitive matter. Many will give their opinions but are not qualified. And the time @ultron you are talking it was the Golden Age of Islam

Beyond endorsements? Yes. She played with a pretty good all female DOTA 2 and CS:GO team for a while, but then, like you, she was pushed to get a more stable, more professional job.

That actually wasn't by me believe it or not. Now she makes money on streaming websites like Twitch and though some endorsements, but no longer via competition gaming.

You're damn right I am. Now do your homework:angry:!!

Tis true. Some people live by the mantra, "If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you."

But for us Vikings it was always, "if at first you don't succeed try again when the weather's colder... but before you leave take a few cute redheads with you:D."

In retrospect attacking anyone when the weather didn't freeze your buns off was always going to be a poor tactical decision. Can't say the Icelanders, Greenlandians or Canadians did mind though, especially since there weren't any when we were trolling around the North Sea.

Me making fun of your size.....? Fox how could you even think such a thing? :o:

Mmhmmm... and how tall is Armstrong:blink:?

That is mouthwatering. :smitten:

No dessert! I have some leftover Green Bean casserole if you're hungry.

If you eat all of that and do your homework, then maybe you can have some ice cream. Maybe.

And I don't want to hear any complaints about how gross Green Beans or vegetables are:taz:!!

...

I'd give my first born son for the ability to not make any grammar or spelling mistakes:wacko:. I always have to go back and edit a few times. Oh well, at least I go back and proof-read my posts. Can't say the same for most people.

No one's talked to me except @waz though:unsure:. If you do need to get ahold of me I've tweaked some of my account accessibility options, so it's easier for people to comment on my profile page or start conversations with me.

As @Armstrong can tell you, I'm not a good sleeper at all:wacko:, so with or without any talks I'd probably be up at 3:30am:sick:.
