What's new

Whatever

Sorry, @waz has already requested it.

Unfortunately this was all we could afford this year. Blame oil prices.

How'd you rate the native's English? Better then native Brits:D?

Did you see any signs or ads in English too, while we're on the topic of languages. It's strange that a large percentage of street signs and TV shows and ads are in English for what is non-native English speaking nation.

Yeah agreed, even 12 year old kids were fluent in English. The strangest thing I liked in Oslo was that I saw only 1 fat dude walking on the street... The people had maintained their physics so well... not sure if its true or just wrong observation on that part of the day

Actually what happened is that we wrongly assumed that Norway is likely to be cheaper than London and landed in Oslo having 800 Krones in pocket, without even booking a hotel in advance

Only to realise that it was good enough to transport us from Rygge Airport to Oslo City and backwards (600 krones for return journey for 2)

The rest is history and funny story... the bottom line is, we were surprisingly happy to see cash withdrawals from the local atm and can't explain to you how terrible those few hours we had spent knowing we landed a city covered in snow, without booking a hotel in advance and cash spent on purchasing the ticket from the airport to city centre

LMAO! Oil prices, ah hun Norwegian humour.

Humor (what's with the "u"o_O)? No my dear Waz, these oil prices are killing us:cry:.

Be thankful prices have risen slightly, or else you'd be getting this:o:

Actually I should hate on the poor thing, because I'm dorky enough to actual get one as our Christmas tree this year:lol:.

it better be big

We've got our best Canadian lumberjacks on the problem. Bigger then ours right? The yuggest?

From what I know the lighting of the tree at Trafalgar Square takes place on December 1st, so it should be there soon enough.

Now stop complaining or we'll send you a twig instead:P.

 Oh yeah, I've heard plenty of stories like this. I live in-between the city of Sandefjord and Torp International Airport, we're usually the first stop people make when flying into the country unless flying directly into Oslo and you wouldn't be surprised to learn just how many people say the same.

Norway is cheap if you live here and have wage earning to match, but for the rest of Europe or foreigners from overseas it's very, very pricy. Fortunately we're a nice bunch of people (if not somewhat shy). I've let a few families stay with me instead of paying for housing at an inn. I really do feel bad for people coming to Norway for some fun, but who are blindsided by the cost.

I definitely understand. I've heard that many times.

The strangest thing I liked in Oslo was that I saw only 1 fat dude walking on the street... The people had maintained their physics so well... not sure if its true or just wrong observation on that part of the day

For young people definitely, we're an active nation with skiing, biking and outdoors activities being go-tos during all times of the year, though were I live it's more likely to be raining then nice enough to be outside.

A largely healthy diet doesn't hurt either, but being up and about is probably the major contributor. When in Oslo people are actually discouraged from driving around and incentivized to grab a bike around town instead - but it's a big city so that only goes so far.

Take a random sample of Norwegians, like these celebrating Constitution Day, and you're right, they're perhaps not fit, but they aren't overweight either.
