When a Lt Col gets to Command a unit, he gets the CO’s transport called ‘CO sahab Ka Tota’ by drivers and other ranks.

This ‘Tota’ is basically Toyota, actually Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series, or better known as ‘RKR’ (petrol version) or ‘RMR’ (diesel version).

It’s the most unpopular 4x4 amongst army wives. While in a gathering, a friend promoted to CO showed up in a RKR with driver and gun man, I heard a lady talking to another,

“ yeh wohi Jeep hay na jis mein jhatkay bahut lagtay hain”.

Such a reputation for RKR !

The good thing is that now CO’s also get the Mitsubishi or Toyota ‘Daala’ (pick up) which gives a comfortable ride in the back seat of the second cabin.
