There are large number of them calling them selves as kings in fact they are foot soldiers who worked under many dynasties that includes Islamic invaders. Like todays soldiers. In todays society their place is where todays soldiers are treated nothing more.....

I think son of king is a wrongly interpreted, as if all of them are royals and ruled some thing ....

Todays Rajputs are completely different from those of past, Rajput is made because of life style in those days, not the present ones(majority) who are completely different and come with different mind set.

And way Indian society needs uniformity and reorganization comes based on capabilities and deeds, not by lineage or caste. India society needs change and the drawbacks must be addressed and scrapped if needed.

Apart from Rajputs of Rajasthan every one was subjugated by invaders. Rajputs of rajasthan survived long time because of terrain. The fall of Rajputs had many regions like Total war concept, horse cavalry etc....etc....

When Kushans came to India , the Brahmins went to them and saw their bravery and formed a new kshatrya clan to include them in Indian society, converted them to Hinduism and married local women. Some of the Rajput clans already existed in India.

Being proud of Rajput is being proud to be a soldier .... just like todays children take pride of their parents working in defense forces. Nothing more ........
