On Friday it snowed a lot here in Toronto, and the highways were jammed to the point that it was taking more than 2 to 3 hours to get from one end of the city to another (generally takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic). My office is beyond the West end of the city and my home is beyond the East end, about 54km apart. So, I called in and told my boss I'll be working from home on Friday so as to avoid the traffic, at which point she sent me work that I could finish by doing overtime over the weekend if required, as long as I finished it by Monday.

So, all of Friday and Saturday I chilled, thinking that I'll finish it all on Sunday (as a university student, I learnt that leaving things to the last minute was not ideal, but it is irresistable). On Saturday night @ 1AM (technically, Sunday morning), I got a call from a friend who said there's a Students Union meeting at uni that I should be at on Sunday at 4PM. I said "sure", and decided to wake up early on Sunday to finish my work. I wake up early (relatively) as planned on Sunday (today) and tried to log into my email to retrieve the work files and... the server is down (first time it's happened in 4 years). So now I'm sitting here, its 1:30PM, typing away at PDF and worried sick that I won't be able to finish my work on time (the boss was adamant she wants it by Monday). Even if the server comes up now, there is no way I can finish the work in 1 hour and leave home @ 3 to attend the meeting.

So now I have two options: piss the boss off by not finishing the work on time, or jeopardize my university political career. I'll let you know which path I chose in the next episode of... Confessions of a PAF-Ace-hole

Update
So I called my boss at home (*ominous music plays*), and she said she could forward me all the files at my defence.pk mail address (she's South Indian, so I hope she doesn't mind the defence.pk thing). The only problem is, now she knows I left everything to the last minute! (technically speaking, she's the Project Manager and not the boss, and a really nice lady - but I still would like not to get in her bad books)
I'm still waiting for my boss' email. I think I should send her this song, which is an alltime favourite of mine:

Also, only 45 minutes left before I leave for my first ever political interview. Time to put my game face on.

Update
Wow, what a sequence of events. I called the Project Manager again and she said she was sending me the files. As soon as I hung up, I re-tried my university mail and its back up. So essentially, God was teaching me a lesson on how I should not leave things to the last minute.

It's too late now, there's no way I can finish the work before going to uni. I'll have to finish it when I come back.

Seiko, how do you say, "I'm sorry I f*ed up" in Keralite?
