As the deal between india and france is almost done for 36 rafale , what will be the answer of PAF to this acquisition of IAF , RAFALE is miles ahead of anything we have in our inventory , it will shift the balance of power even more , PAF might go for
36 F16 Block 61 (V)
36 J10C
Australian F18 (but pak must not go for american again )
36 J11D if russia allows
36 SU35 ( difficult to get and maintain )
F15 eagle ( very difficult )
36 eurofighter ( if pakistan can get them then its gonna be the most prime fighter of asia )
or shift the funds to J31 and procure them in large numbers
opinions please

You forget space shuttle

Its not necessary to rush to purchase any jet if enemy getting new type of jet, what is important in air defence (Rafael will be part of main attack force) is synergy in all assets and right system in right place.

If Pakistan add advance AESA radar on ground and Sea coupled with HQ-9,16 variants or similar MR/LR SAMS with systems like Tor, buk & specially Pentsir (latest versions) or similar systems on ground and sea in current air defence then PAF, PN, PA combined will be able to take care of any thing what India can through at Pakistan through air, until 5th gen arrived in India.

apart from shoring up air defenses, there really isn't anything currently in or available off the shelf to PAF to counter it.

from the US, F-16 block 60s and F-15s are going to be tough, spl now with their congress blocking the 8 blk 52s for now.

from the EU, PAF could possibly make a pitch for the Typhoon but do remember that $$ is where it lost out to the Rafale in the MMRCA, it's going to be pricey, if it all a sale is cleared. Saab Gripen maybe but it's a light fighter and no match for the Rafale, PAF are probably better off upgrading the Thunder.

from Russia, much is being talked about the recent thawing/warming of relations and defence cooperation and mi28 sale but SU 35s is still a bit far fetched, given India's still very strong strategic defence ties with them, I'd even say it's impossible for right now.

which leaves all weather ally, the Dragon, to acquire from.. but here again the J-11 flanker sale is subject to Russian approval, and the 31 still under development besides being a 5th gen separate category fighter altogether, this remains the only realistic last option standing.

Has everyone forgot about Pakistan's AWACS?
Some of them having AESA radars so no PAF jets will have to use their own radars and they can maintain complete silence and act as a defence to the AWACS and as bomb/missile truck. If anyone here has some knowledge about AESA radars, they will also know that they can be used to clutter the enemy's radar with different variable signals all at once. This causes great difficulty for the enemy to distinguish signals picked up from the back ground and those picked up by the planes.
So in retrospect, there isn't any need for the PAF to hasten their buying a tit-for-tat plane. They have the required equipment to deal with most threats. Also, the IAF has to station its fighter jets along several of its international borders, so even if they have hundreds and hundreds of 4th generation fighters, they will be distributed to other regions. In this regard Pakistan has a benefit as they have to focus all their ground-based radars, AWACS and fighter jets on their eastern border only.

People forgot what our current defence minister said once, he said around 2 squadrons of fighter jets are in China and will be available in emergency situation.

haha it is really funny to see that indians themselves are telling us what we should do to counter their rafales  PDF can be really weird sometimes :D chlo ek dusre ki madad krna bhi ek sawab hii hai :enjoy:

^this we've an advantage here we need to worry about india only while they've to worry about a lot of other countries:tup: though it's still my wish to see EFT in PAF colours ^_^

there was a time west looted our wealth after our ancestry lost the war . but now same land same people just deference name india and Pakistan are competing each other to give wealth to west for some toy, s while half of population are very poor and they don't care about those toy, s . india and Pakistan ridiculously threatening each other like crazy dogs , and west pouring fuel in to it so they can pocket more money from this poor nation in name of giving some toy.s . just wake up people .

ok..... i thought the service rate was 60% in 2014 but if it's 55% then thats near enough the best part of half of the fleet inactive. why dont they build the parts in house instead of relaying on Russia well if india builds them, then im sure it makes sense to make the parts right?

yes... that's what india is trying to do now... and some new info is that IAF is going to buy the spares in large quantity and would store them.. in future they're aiming for the same availability rates of western fighter. and in 2014 i think HAL delivered about 200 jets still around 70 to be delivered

2 squadrons of what :what:? spare aircraft to be quickly transferred to the Pakistani air force in case they need it in a hot war scenario with India or 2 squadrons of PLAAF willing to fight to Pakistan ?

If you don consider my opinion to be troll types I say let PAF chief fly to Moscow and ask for 36 su35

The reason being the mistral fiasco, India buying Rafale and India Russia FGFA based issues all are potentially a kind of pushing inso Russia relationship towards a recession type of environment.
You can say India did nt like to pay 4-5 bn$ for joint FGFA development but can spend much higher for just 36 rafales.

In all probability to answer India and send out a msg in proper terms, Russia would agree for 36 Su35 sales.

That will potentially open up new platforms for Pakistan in future.

But this window of opportunity is very very limited.. If you have to move then move now bcz knowing this possible situation I am forecasting that a GOI envoy will be in Russia right after Rafale contract is signed. Mostly to please Russia and talk about FGFA investments to keep Russia happy.

Or else its a chinese fighter in J series would be the second best option any time

Invest in a two engine version of JF-17 all that technology and experience is there

.
There are many advanced projects are going on to improve defence capabilities of Indian defense, Refale is just a clue. Pakistan was never in race and will never be in race. India is only concern about China and world game. So chill Pakistani's , you people have nukes, what else you need ?
