What's new

What will BAL do once Haseena is no more?

As long as Hasina is alive and in power, we are in safe hands. At least the rajakar variety won't take over. Death of Hasina will be an end of an era. We Bengalis from time to time created some great leaders. I hope when Hasina is no more, we get another Sheikh Mujib. We need one, badly.
Yes I am talking about after Hasina. Now it's up to her how long she will rule.

According to the Bangladesh constitution, holders of dual nationality are barred from running for a government office, so Joy Wazed is definitely out of the equation (don't see them changing this, or Joy giving up his American citizenship). Most likely going to be Taposh as Bilal and others have said.
So who you think will lead the nation? khaleda is gone, tareq is banned , then who will be the PM? Quader can at best rant as sidekick, but lack the quality to hold the PM position ( actually monarch in Bangladesh) ,same same can be said for all BAL and BNP sidekicks. All lack the quality of becoming PM.

So in the end it will be a national unity govt where all party will have their representatives and I wish a technocrat will lead the govt ( after Hasina) .

Only in this way we can get a sensible govt.

Since the govt will be a mix of controlled political MPs ,so such divided people will be united.

Do you think they can pull it out?
Making an exception for him will be seen as politically corrupt even by other AL members. Also even if they do allow Joy Wazed to take office, it is fairly unlikely he's going to leave a comfortable millionaire's life in the US for some extra cash or power.

Likely Taposh and other younger established members, or older more established AL members like Obaidul Quader (at least for the short term). But, ultimately, younger AL cadre will come up through the ranks and govern for the next decade or more.

They can lead , but they aren't cult like figure like Hasina or Khaleda. So yes they can be part of national unity govt.

And besides if democracy will be restored after Hasina ( assuming Khaleda Zia is completely neutralised) ,then no party will have the ability to dismantle the country like past days.

But if western democracy is restored ,I am afraid that chetona and religion business will have a scope.

So national unity govt should serve us better, if there is strong back up from military intelligence DGFI.

But whatever will happen, no family dynasty anymore, as it create cult like personalities and later it create trouble.

You see khelda Zia was the Real example.

Hasina is cult like figure too , but she actually never created trouble like khaleda , as she is the first who made president outside her party and later suffered.

So it's clear that neither pure western democracy, nor family dynasty is useful for Bangladesh.

Let's lighten the mood a bit.

I have another nominate for PM, though a little underage and young. @DalalErMaNodi sorry to yank your chain a bit. 8-)

@Atlas bhai making the Bangladesh posters happy here. :-)

Summit Power International (SPI) managing director Ayesha Aziz Khan, she heads up Summit's operations in Singapore. I know some of you younger millennials might like her.

Don't fault her by her looks, she has got some serious management chops as I understand it. She led the effort to list Summit Power in S'pore SGX and also tied up the JV with Hitachi.

@Destranator bhai no offense but this is a bit theoretical (and misleading).

Bangladesh is pretty evenly populated as our share of arable land is super high (lot higher than other countries), there are almost no unpopulated jungles or deserts (almost all flat), except maybe remote parts of the hill tracts. Naturally population density will be high.

There was a fable in olden days in Bengal, that you didn't have to till the land to get crops. All you had to do was cast a bunch of seeds in the wind and mother nature did the rest.

No wonder Bengal took care of 12-15% of world's entire GDP from 1-1700 AD until things declined under exploiters.

Ah @Bilal9 bhai , superb! Pretty and gorgeous lady!

However , if she has good management ability but if she has western strong morality , then I am afraid that she won't remain under control.

As actually deep state need some people as front guard, who has the ability of management and can also be controlled.

If the lady can be compromising like many of our people, surely she can be the Head.

If she loves too much freedom, then in the end she will be in trouble, as far I understand.

ইনি খুব বেশি স্বাধীনচেতা না হলে, মানে সোজা কথায় গ্রাউন্ড রিয়েলিটি বুঝলে কাজ হবে।

But surely we need technocrats after Hasina if we have national unity govt.

This is not a good enough excuse for having a population density that high, in fact the highest if you ignore city states. The fact is misconception about the economic "benefits" of having many too many children coupled with bad influence of poorly educated Mullahs did the damage up until the 90's. It is the efforts of "shudkhor and what not" Yunus and Abid to help women take charge of family planning has brought down the birth rate.

Yet our stupidity till the 90's may prevent us from becoming a fully developed country ever. There are not enough resources in our tiny landmass and waters to support a $8-10 trillion GDP, the size we need to achieve a $50K+ per capita income.

Well said. @Destranator, Mullahs never remain hungry because they get donation, eat chicken leg everyday. You see most of Mullahs who used to issue fatwa against jobs of women are pot bellied.

I suggest let the Mullahs keep hungry and observe if Allah send them food from heaven.

The reality is most of Mullahs are traitors to Islam, use fake Hadiths and various ijma and kyas for their own benefits.

I suggest Muslims should only obey Hadiths that doesn't contradict Quran.

So by default the theocratic Mullahs should be taken care of like recently Hefajat was taken down.

Allah himself said that, he doesn't change people' fate unless they don't try it by themselves.

But these Mullahs pretend to be wali Allah in reality most of them are ignorant and hypocrites.

They need more people for their jihadi activities , so they issue various fatwas.

I agree it will take a long time to get to the stage you are talking about -certainly $50K+ per capita income is out of the question for a while.

But if we can reduce fertility to below two (like in the EU, which means below replacement level) by providing even stronger incentives than right now - $25-$30k per capita may become possible in a couple of decades.

Reducing fertility does wonders in just one generation.

I remember Korean folks in the previous generation mostly used to have same height (or lower) compared to Bengalis (about 5'8"), but the new generation that was born after 1990's are mostly above 5'-10" because of improvements in nutrition. Same in Japan. Average height went up two inches just because of nutrition and improvements in GDP per capita.
