Was watching TV. I read the news that terrorists from Afghanistan hijacked planes and rammed it into the WTC and Pentagon. That was the first time I got to know the name Osama-bin-laden.
Later, I remember the then Indian PM Vajpayee denied any logistical support to US to conduct strikes in Afghanistan.

I was 13 years old then, didn't really cared or understood the gravity of the situation, apart from that a lot of innocents died. I remember having dinner and watching tv, and the news flash ticker was reading USA declared war on Afghanistan or something.

I was watching CNN on TV when suddenly they switched the program to the live coverage of the planes hitting the Twin Towers! I thought it was some sorta movie scene but then realized it was happening live in front of my eyes!! It was incredible. Seeing people jumping from the towers to their deaths hundreds of feet below was tragic and unforgettable and will remain etched in my mind forever!

Was at Uni.. I remember the day quite clearly.. We were in the Monash common room 2 in the morning when the live footage was on TV, First reaction was it's some disaster movie going on, Second was surreal when i realized it was actually true.. Third was panic because my brother was working in NYC at that time just blocks away from WTC, Parents were going bonkers unable to get through to him thus calling me incessantly

We finally did get through after nearly 8 hours, He did'nt go to work that day because of flu as fate would have it

The feeling was that of pure horror and some intermix of anger and helplessness. I was still a kid that time. I still remember my mom frantically trying to reach her friends. It was pretty chaotic.

My dad was in Britain that time in the middle of a stupid meeting when I broke the news to him !
